Had a fantastic meal from start to finish at this classic French restaurant. The decor is a very simple elegant French style with light wood walls. The chicken liver pate served in a jar was awesome and the presentation was unique. Escargot was prepared in a nice cream sauce instead of the usual garlic butter, which added to the sophistication of the dish. The steak entree, the fish, entree, and scallop entree were all prepared with sophisticated well done sauces to compliment each dish. The chocolate dessert with hazelnut ice cream was heaven. A very nice selection of french wines appear on the wine list. In my opinion one of the best experiences in French dining in San Francisco or for that matter in France. Service was attentive and well paced.

It was Christmas Day and few restaurants were open for dinner. We discovered Rue St. Jacques was open and it was a very luck find. Even though the holiday menu was limited, all choices sounded good and the ones we selected were excellent (foie gras, scallops, veal and duck). Service was prompt and courteous. Our party of four had and excellent time with an excellent meal. It's definitely worth trying!

I had dinner with a good friend after a business meeting at Rue St. Jacques. No reservation, no problem. The server was a beautiful, young French girl from Alsace who my friend doubted could be over 21. She was very attentive and helpful. The lights were a little tow low to read the menus, but that was fixed as soon as we pointed it out.

The food was very good. The Catalan-style escargots were delicious. I also had a pork loin special dish that was excellent. The portions were generous and everything was cooked very well.

We ordered the scallops and pork filet from the menu, both were excellent and the portions very generous. The creme brulet and napoleon that we had for dessert were both really good. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We'd definitely go back. It's a long, steep walk from the pier, so we'd suggest coming from above if possible. On the other hand, the exercise didn't hurt and helped burn a few of the wonderful calories that we consumed.

We ordered from the prix fixe menu, which included just about everything on their menu. A few items required a surcharge.

We went to this place on the recomendation of the Concierge at our hotel.
Thought it would be a nice romantic dinner in a nice French resturant in SFO.
Food was bland and tastless, Mashed Potatoes tasted like they were out of a box, watery. Asperigas salad was over cooked and was missing any dressing.
Vanilla Brule was missing any taste of vanilla.
After we had been served our main course we were finally able to get and bread for the table. this was after asking 3 times.
Asked for bottled water and got tap water.
The table beside us asked for a bottle of Pinot Noir and they where told they were out, the people complained and suddenly they where brought out a bottle, Wine Label on the front of the bottle was a different wine that was on the label on the back. People were told oh it is a Pinot Noir beleive what is on the back label not the front.

I have run resturants for a long time and the food and service here on this evening where a huge let down and a waste of and evening in a City with Many better options.

No idea how they ever got Zagat rated
