Great view so go if you want to sit and see the bay and look at Alcatraz but food was over priced and not that good. Service was good but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

“A total ripoff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

Beautiful day on pier 39 and we picked the Neptune restaurant because of its view of Alcatraz Island, the decor of the restaurant itself and its menu. He was just before 12 and we walked in (two couples and their late 50s) and instead of being seated in the restaurant were taken around the corner and seated at a cafe table. As we have been walking all morning we decided to stay and have lunch. We did not eat at the Neptune restaurant but at the sea lion Café. Several other people also complained and left. The service was below average, the clam chowder was okay but we paid the price for decor that we did not get. In all my years of traveling I have never gone in the main entrance of the restaurant to be walked through the restaurant and into a café (which they own). We were in San Francisco for eight days and this was our worst (and really only bad one) dining experience. shame on them!

“Awful”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

I took 3 friends who were visiting here because we wanted to eat some seafood. I realize the restaurant is in a super touristy area, but it has a nice view of the bay. However, the experience was awful. The service was very poor, slow, unprofessional, and unfriendly. We had to ask 3 times for bread and twice for water and the waitress rolled her eyes. There were only about 5 tables in the whole restaurant so there wasn't any excuse. To say the food is mediocre is being generous. We got the garlic crab dip, it was watery and had a film over it so it had obviously been sitting for a while, and the toasted pita with it was cold. My friend got one of the pasta dishes and there was a hair in it. I had the crab pasta which was nothing special, noodles, alfredo sauce, and crab meat. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that we asked to talk to the manager and he comped all of our meals. I wouldn't reccomend.

“sênd you money somewhere else!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

If you enjoy bad service, salty food, long waits but an empty restaurant! is it the place to be! If you want, just go there for water. It is sad because it sells the best view of the bay! prices for the food is ridiculously high and you think well, duh! its a high hand place and nice dressed up servers but wait till the food arrives!! dark burnt fish and chips and sponged up with oil and this is for the KIDs menu too!!! and then bread bowl comes.. you being so excited and hungry and they drop your plate down in front of you with no introduction and here's this sad looking bowl with no presentation and oo MAN it was so freaking salty no wonder they give you a whole lot of bread. Maybe it just my server but He was not kid friendly not that I wanted them to play with my kids but at least acknowledge them.. No wonder there are a lot of empty seats there now.. Dont waste your money here.. There are a lot more restaurants to take your family and friends to over there. just don't come here.. I am a tour guide of San Francisco/Bay Area and Paris/Europe and I am very ashamed of this place.. Used to love it 6 years ago.

“good food, very nice views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

We had California crabs which are very different from Maryland Blue crab! We made a huge mess but it was delicious! Service was good. Great views since it's at the end of the pier at Pier 39. Go see the sea lions there too.
