“A Quick Dinner”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

After reading the varied reviews I wasn't expecting anything fancy. And it wasn't. But it was fast and the food was hot and good and they were careful to make sure they got a special order correct. It's across from the hotel we stayed at and after a long day we didn't want to venture out again so we stopped in here. It did smell a little musty and we were not impressed by the piano player.

“Not even a good place to use the toilet.”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

The piano player was nice and entertaining but it's not really an Irish Pub. They had Guinness but didn't know how to pour it, so I only ordered one and they're selection of Irish or even English beer after that was limited. The bartender was a sour puss. At a real Irish Pub, the bar tender will talk to you and keep your beers refilled - you don't have to try to get their attention. And tell old sour puss, that in other parts of the world you say "Excuse me" when you pass gas - not when you want to ask for a menu. I don't think any one in there had ever been to Ireland or even charm school

One of the two toilets in the ladies room was taped shut with duct tape - like it had been out of service for quite some time and was going to stay that way for a while.

It is catty-corner to where you get on the cable car near Fisherman's Wharf - so I guess they get a lot of tourists and don't have to be nice to people or expect return customers.

“Great Pub!”
Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

Super friendly staff, especially for a place right in the middle of a tourist heavy area. The buena vista is across the street and swarmed with droves of visitors struggling to get to the bar to try the famous Irish coffee (like every other tourist, and none of the local...very..."authentic"?), meanwhile this pub has ample seating, great staff and great food. Try the Cobb salad, best one I've ever had.

“Great place to get out of the crowd and have a beer”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

My daughter, husband and I wanted to rest and escape the Fisherman's Wharf crowd so we went into Tiernan's Irish Pub on the corner near the Hyde and Powell Cable Car. Great selection of beers, of course each of went with the Irish beers... Guiness, Smithwicks, and Harp. Also decided to get a snack so we had garlic and green onion french fries which were very good with the beer. Great place to stop when you need a break.
