A tiny shop tucked away down a small alley in Chinatown, but worth searching for. The man that greeted us was very friendly & gave us some broken pieces of fortune cookie to try. I paid him $1 & took lots of photos of the staff making the fortune cookies. It was really interesting to see how they were made & there were big, fresh bags to buy for a couple of dollars.

Found the location easily enough with the GPS and looking for an alley. Like the others have said it is a 5 minute stop but interesting. You only see the part of the processing where the cookie is just coming out of the oven and the fortune is inserted and the cookie folded. Bought bags of cookies and the guy still charged us $.50 to take a picture!

Tiniest place you would ever imagine fortune cookies being made and its down an alley but its still neat to see.

Ross Alley is where this place is. It is a really small alley that runs parallel to Stockton st. It is definitely worth a visit. A nice gentleman ushered us in and gave us free samples. You can take a picture with a lady folding the fortune cookies. Buy the unfolded fortune cookies, they seem easier to eat while shopping around Chinatown.

We looked all over Chinatown before finding this place, because the kids wanted to go so badly. What a huge disappointment. It consisted of a tiny sweatshop-like place that was unfriendly. I actually felt sorry for the ladies folding the cookies, and the "boss" was clearly the boss. Very strange. My nine-yr-old daughter was disappointed and won't even tell anyone about it. We did buy a bag of fortune cookies, and while they were good, it's difficult to forget the less than great conditions under which they were made. If you go and want to take pictures, make sure you have some quarters. The "boss" will charge you fifty cents per picture. Strange.
