Good food ... excellent choices on the menu ... and well informed wait staff ... reasonable prices. We had lunch there and then rode the cable cars back for dinner the next evening ... ask for a table with a view of the wharf and bay.

on our last day before heading to the airport I stopped in for a quick minute to take some bread home. It sure was nice the next morning after arriving home to have a little taste of vacation with us!! The sourdough bread here is just fabulous, nothing else to say about it!! Cafe is a bit busy but worth the wait and standing in line.

Stopped in for the famous breadbowl and wasn't disappointed! We had the Crab & Corn Chowder Sourdough bowl and it was amazing... The Bloody Mary was delicious and the burger was perfect! A bit pricey but service was good and we were looking right over pier 43. Would go back for sure.

We recently stopped in for some lunch here on our way walking from our Lombard Street accommodation down to Pier 39. It was our first meal in San Francisco and it was terrific.

The premises were certainly busy but my husband managed to find a table for the four of us while I went off and ordered. After much debate with a nice choice of food on the menu, my husband and older daughter selected the butternut pumpkin soup special which was a lovely soup served in a huge bread roll with some of the bread scooped out. It was hearty and given it was sunny but cold, a real winner. My younger daughter ordered one of the Panini's and enjoyed this and I ordered the half Panini and salad special which was great value. The salad was lovely and fresh and despite being so busy, the food was all terrific.

You have to queue up and order so there is no table service but it all seemed to flow smoothly. The girls loved the bread rolls in huge baskets moving over our heads on the conveyor belts and we were happy to have found somewhere reasonably priced with great food.

I can't visit San Francisco without getting their clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. It's worth the trip.
