“We love this hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

My husband and have stayed at this hotel multiple times. We love the location the rooms (facing the Embarcadero), the staff, the restaurant for breakfast. The location is great for walking and for going to the Farmers' Market across the street.

Thank you for staying with us again, we always appreciate a loyal guest. The Embarcadero view from your room should be even more impressive beginning in March with the official lighting of the Bay Lights fine art light installation. The Farmer’s Market at the Ferry Building is our favorite place for fresh produce, which Chef Kory incorporates the seasonal, local ingredients into Americano’s dishes.

A 3 day weekend was not enough to enjoy the myriad of possibilities San Francisco has to offer! Luckily the knowledgable and friendly Hotel staff were able to make tourist decisions much easier. The room itself was right out of an interior design magazine, and our views of the bay & bridge were superb. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Corner suites have a bigger viewing vista from 2 large windows!

Booked this hotel for business travel and have been to SF many times. I really enjoyed the service, the Americano restaurant, and great location near MarketPlace with local grocers. Beautiful experience with small eateries and tasting local farmers produce. Bed and turn down service was very good. The staff are professional and timely (Tavana @ front desk). When you have"privacy please" sign on door, the staff will not knock on your door. Very good. Most restaurant inside are over-priced and don't create an experience for lounging. But the Americano had excellent lounging sofas, chairs, bar area and even dining area inside and outside. The space is deceptively larger than you expect. Many local business persons frequent the spot after work. While the bathroom will not "wow" you with step-in glass shower the faucet products were precise and shower felt like a spa. Also the hotel is only 7 minutes from Union Square by taxi. Only caveat is be careful to plan for marches, rallies on the streets on the weekend. It could delay your trip back to airport. Lastly, the view of the Bay Bridge with the new LED lights at night definitely lights up the city.

Room Tip: Choose higher floors 3-8. Avoid room #s x50 plus ('x' represents floor - ex 254) on lower f...

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us here at Hotel Vitale. The Ferry Building is a wonderful destination for local produce; Kory Stewart, our executive chef, visits frequently to purchase fresh produce for Americano. I will gladly pass along your kind comments on service to the front desk and housekeeping teams. The Bay Lights are a beautiful addition to the skyline. We are in great anticipation for the official launch in March, and delighted you were able to experience them during the exciting testing period. For more information on the project and artist, Leo Villareal, check out their website.

This place feels like relaxing spa: calm, plush and comfy. I love the Fresh brand toiletries - especially the incredible-smelling Soy Shampoo. Fantastic service. Great location along the bay -- stunning views of the Ferry Building and the Bay Bridge. Definitely recommended.

Thank you for posting such wonderful photos! The Ferry Building and Bay Bridge are iconic images of San Francisco, and glad you were able to capture them from our hotel. Starting in March, the Bay Bridge will exhibit an exciting light sculpture by Leo Villareal. We hope you visit again to witness the beautiful night view of the Bay Lights from our terraces.

We love this hotel and stay there, plus recommend it to others all the time. The pricing used to be prohibitive, it is more reasonable now. It's a nice location, much to walk to, the views are lovely. The staff is friendly and approachable, as with all JDV hotels. The current chef at Americano is creative and youthful in his approach to cuisine, and there are many high points in the meals. The rooms are luxurious, and a lovely respite. You will want to come back if you stay here...

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for recommending us, word of mouth is the best form of promotion. We are grateful to have such a wonderful team here at Hotel Vitale and Americano. Our executive chef, Kory Stewart, is wonderful at making unique and delicious dishes for the menu. We are now featuring a “Pasta del Giorno” menu with four fresh pastas made in house daily, so be sure to give them a try on your next visit.

We spent a very pleasant three nights in one of their deluxe city view rooms in january. Nice decor, medium sized room, but with a very large bathroom. There was a chaise longue and a good view out onto the square outside the ferry building. The location is great for downtown and tourists wanting to be near the water front and all is attractions.

Only complaint Was with the wifi. The room was at the extreme end of the hotel (456) and the wifi did not quite reach into the room. You needed to stand next to the door to the room for it to work or go to one of the shared spaces. Annoying. They did offer to move us, but we were already unpacked by then so didn't bother.
