Over the years, I have enjoyed Breakfast at Sears, near Union Sq., many times. It's always pleasant when a return visit to a classic restaurant lives up to one's expectations, and Sears fit the bill. Among the breakfast specialities are the silver-dollar pancakes, waffles, and omelette s, but my favorite is always the Sourdough French Toast with strawberry topping. This is a true taste of San Francisco for me. Yu may have to wait in line, but the wait will be worth it.

This is a San Francisco classic for good reason.
The pancakes, waffles and egg dishes are exceptionally good.
The maple syrup is served warm. What a treat

Since breakfast was provided at our hotel, we popped into Sears for lunch. The sandwiches were huge and delicious, with more than ample supply of fries. The atmosphere is casual and fun. Service was excellent and price very reasonable.

The first thing I noticed when I stopped in to have breakfast with several colleagues was that the line was not so long as I remember in the past. Pretty obvious why. Though the host and wait staff are quite pleasant, they seemed disorganized. I ordered the signature pancakes with lingonberries and they arrived sans berries. The taste was very salty and bland. One other diner did not receive the rasher of bacon he ordered. The eggs benedict were good; but not outstanding. Prices are reasonable.

Great spot for breakfast in/near Union Square. We were there for two days and had breakfast there both times. It was reasonably priced, good service, and home-style breakfast that just hits the spot before starting your day!
