The Golden Coffee House consists of a counter and 2 to 3 small tables. The counter seats about 15 and takes up about 75% of the place. The counter is ‘U’ shape with the grill closing the gap of the ‘U’. You can watch the cook pour your pancake batter of flip your omelet (which he does with some finesse).
The breakfast menu is simple but long. Many of the selections are variations on a theme, for example, 1 egg/one bacon, 1 egg/2 bacon, 2 egg/2 bacon, etc. There is a section with about 8 different omelets.
My wife went light with two eggs and two bacon strips. I had the “Joe’s Special” omelet made with onions and mushrooms. I was very pleased with the food. The omelet was good and more than enough to keep me going for hours of sight-seeing.
A word of warning. I do not want to leave the reader with the impression that the place is dirty. It is not. But it is old and cramped. If you are a germ freak you may want to look for a Denny’s some place. If you want a good breakfast in a friendly neighborhood restaurant then go here.
