The letter "B" stands for Belinda, one of the two partners of this wonderful place. Belinda herself walks around, serves food and drinks, asks questions to the customers, and chit chat. Food is excellent and the price is right. For real food one needs to pay real money. If you are addicted to Food Inc. packaged crap, do not come here. You will not find plastic wrap croissants costing a few dollars for a few dozen. You will however eat well for less than $11. You will eat food that is not only delicious but healthy and real. The open faced sandwiches are really a great value. For $10.50 one gets home made bread with wonderful topping like olive oil poached tuna, mushroom, goat cheese, cherry tomato and there are chicken and ham for meat eaters. It is really heart warming to see finally Americans are carrying ONE pastry in a bag with a smiling face. It is obviously a popular place. Very easy to get to by public transport. Bus 1 stops on California, in front of the restaurant. Bus 24 stops at the corner on Divisadero. The decor is clean and minimal, staff are busy and happy people. Tomorrow on my birthday I will start my day with pastries from this wonderful place in my city.

The B Patisserie was jumping on a Saturday afternoon. The pastries are delicious, but the open-faced sandwiches are terrific as well. The staff members were a bit too busy to schmooze about the items, but the service was good. The kouign ammon (a pastry from Brittany) appeared to be especially popular with the clientele, but I thought it was the weakest of the four items I sampled. The other three items were terrific. French-style macarons are apaprently available on Sundays.
