“Fun Evening Show”

Secret Improv Society
Reviewed May 28, 2014

I found good reviews for this improv show on Yelp, and we bought tickets for while we'd be in San Fran. Had a great time! There is a group of 4-5 people, and they take lots of suggestions from the audience for the topics of each short bit. Very interactive and funny. I particularly loved the bit where one of the actors in the skit could only use texts from an audience member's phone for dialogue! The overall idea is similar to Who's Line Is It Anyway. There is a bar before you go in that serves a few beers and wines, and it can get a little hot down there, FYI.

I loved this show. Consistently funny. All improvised. Amazing.
There's a lot of improv in SF now. A lot of it is great. People talk about "long-form improv," and "short-form for improv." It's jargon that means different things to different people. Secret Improv Society does some quick, game-style improv AND keeps some deeper, improvised stories weaving throughout the show. It's a unique mix.
