I've been to dinner twice now over the past week. Once on a Thursday and once on a Friday. Thursday the place was about 3/4 full and Friday it was entirely full so reservations are a good idea. We had them both times and were seated immediately. Ambiance is new/trendy and comfortable. Decent space between tables and the bar area is entirely separate from the dining room so you're not bothered with people standing or walking by your table continuously.

Service was good both nights, but I will say the level of knowledge, attentiveness, and enthusiasm between servers seems big. Our server was great, knew the menu, suggested options (including alcohol pairings), and was totally on it. I didn't see this mirrored with everyone else though.

Food was good. Both times we had the guacamole (made at your table) and enjoyed it. First time I had the chicken enchiladas. They were OK, but I wouldn't order them again. Second time around I had the skillet style carne asada which was really good. Finished it off with two flan and one of the cakes for dessert and both were great.

It's a little on the expensive side for Mexican food even by SF standards. Patrons were dressed either business casual or looked like they were making a night of it. No hoodies or overly casual crap like that. A number of folks gave some pretty bad reviews, but look at what they complained about and give it a shot. I hope the places

We happened upon Rosa Mexicano while escaping the crowds of the Ferry Building and trying to find a bathroom. It was a warm Saturday afternoon and we sat outside and just had beer and guacamole and chips. The waiter was very nice, and the guacamole was chunky and as good as I have had anywhere. Chips were excellent also. This is an upscale Mexican restaurant, and pricey. But it hit the spot.

for folks worried that "Rosa" might dilute the brand and the service with all the new "outposts", not to worry. Pretty consistently good.

Excellent menu for lunch. Shrimp kabobs, queo fundido, and out of this world cheese cake. Choose 3 items for a set price. More food than you need, bar tender was super helpful selecting favorites. Will try DC location based on experience. Views of bay.

Tucked away along on Mission just a couple blocks south of Market is this new Mexican restaurant. I went for their happy hour and was quite happy. Great for people watching and meeting when unwinding after work. Every weeknight the happy hour menu has a different feature taco. On the Thursday night I was there it was duck tacos and they were flavorful and just the right amount of hot. Unfortunately I don't live close by otherwise I would go there every night to try the different tacos. I recommend getting there just as happy hour is about to start or you won't get a table I the bar. After 5:30 the place was standing room packed and I could have scored a few drinks from people eyeing our table. Also, once its packed you won't get to enjoy watching them make the table side guacamole with fresh avocado (and all fresh ingredients). You can still order it but settle for it being made in the kitchen. Although I did not have dinner here, the menu looked great and the dining room looked typical SF upscale casual.
