“Friendly service, great food, fun atmosphere”

We had tickets for a performance at the Golden Gate Theater. We let the restaurant know of our time commitment and they were very thoughtful in pacing the meal. Staff members had a good sense of humor and they had live music (we went on a Sat night).

We had the rabbit and duck breasts for our entrees - both we're prepared perfectly.

The wine list was very reasonably priced and there were options for 1/2 bottles of many wines.

We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

“Take it from someone who is hard to please: Jeanne d'Arc is terrific”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

If you love Paris for the food and you find yourself in San Francisco, stop in for a meal at Jeanne d'Arc. You just might feel as if you are in a bistro in Paris. Every course of my prix fixe meal has been a delight. My steak au poive was indeed perfectly medium rare. A nice wine list, too. Jeanne is a good fit for Cafe Constant fans- don't expect Haute cuisine, just delicious, unpretentious fare.

“a Four Course meal for $42!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

We ate here on a Saturday night as part of our hotel package. It is off the beaten path in the sense that it is below the Cornell Hotel de France. The restaurant was fully staffed and the service was excellent. The waiters were attentive but not pushy. You felt like you were welcome from when you arrived until closing time. On top of the service, the food was excellent and the fixed menu had more than enough variety to choose from. We have told all of our friends about this place and plan to come back the next time we are in SF.

“Does not live up to its reputation.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

Our dinner did not start out as one would like. As we were seated and the couple next to us jumped up. The host left us to deal with a cock roach. We were surprised that the restaurant is in a basement, that is a minus for me. There were no cocktails, only wine. The prix fixe menu was $4 more than on their website and they were out of the one dinner entree I wanted, the canard joyoux. I opted for the sea bass which was quite good, Jim had the steak which was tender and flavorful. The best part of dinner was the Grand Marnier soufflé, it was delicious especially when one dropped in a home made ganache candy. Not sure I would return, the food was wonderful, the wine list was very reasonably priced, but the kitschy basement was off putting.

“Hidden and quirky but very good food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

We dined here on Christmas Eve, they had a special pre fixe menu. While most things were pretty darn good there were a couple notable misses. The crab appetizer had way too much mayo but the other app option was a quiche and that was delicious! The butternut squash soup was very natural, read: not very flavored but we appreciated it's very basic style. The main dishes were good, I heard the fish was a bit rubbery but that the lamb chops was good, I had the filet mignon which was not really a filet mignon cut but regardless it was VERY good! The brie dish afterwards was tasty but not necessary, we were really just looking forward to desert. Sadly, they ran out of what we had ordered, the orange soufflé, but they had the other option and again sadly, it wasn't very good, it was a trio of mini deserts including a profiterole. So I would say more than half the dishes were really very good and the others ok. Atmosphere was warm but I will warn you, it's underground in a hotel and it's a bit quirky, small metal cast irons and bells decorate the place with painted walls of what seems like a landscape from where hobbits live from Lord of the Rings. We enjoyed it but definitely not the place for everyone.
