“Nice view, but poor food”
Reviewed April 3, 2014 via mobile

Went to this restaurant for dinner after a conference. It is right on the water, which is nice, but service was slow and food was less than satisfactory. Ordered the garlic cheese bread and the bread was chewy. The prawns were a bit slimy. Also had the Dungeness crab, which was a bit overcooked. Waiter did give us a lemon wedge and a wet towel to help clean our hands, which was nice. Overall, it was a disappointing dinner and I would not recommend going there.

“Nice view nothing else. ”
Reviewed April 3, 2014 via mobile

In town for a conference. Stopped about 830 at night. It was empty. The waiter was very very slow. Ordered shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were a bit slimy. Ordered garlic cheese baguette. The bread came burnt black on one side. For the main course the Dungeness crab. It was way over cooked. Or possibly cooked hours before and rewarmed. Either way it was way dried out. Additionally the rice that came with it was crunchy.

I had the CASTAGNOLA’S BOLOGNESE which was very good. We also tried the Lobster ravioli which I would recommend also.

“Points for location, but pricey”
Reviewed March 5, 2014 via mobile

Family owned and operated since 1915 (?), last renovated in the mid 80's is my guess. Atmosphere was disjointed. Outside there were cheap looking tables, inside there were drapes, booths, candles, and some sort of pop music being played. We sat at a small table for two next to the window overlooking the small fishing boats. On a rainy Monday night, I bet there were only 15 diners. The menu is limited. Sandwiches are only served until 4pm. After 4, you must order from the dinner menu. The cheapest steak was $30. It was delicious, but expensive. I ordered pasta with chicken, roasted red peppers in a creamy cheese sauce. It would have been ok, but the pasta wasn't well-drained, so the sauce was very watery in the bottom of the plate. We paid about $18-20 for the pasta. That was also expensive. It would be great to lighten up the inside decor, give more variety and food choices. The era of fine dining down at the pier is gone. The street is becoming more T-shirt shops, cheap eats like In and Out burger, McDonald's, and Applebee' s, to go along with the Ripley' s Believe It or Not (pretty lame displays of shrunken heads and several incredible replicas of the Golden Gate Bridge (9 feet long), and the space shuttle Challenger. (Yes, believe or not, there are people out there with enough time on their hands to make these intricate matchstick (or toothpick) replicas). Would I eat here again? No.

“Overpriced and very poor service”

The title says it all. Walk past this rip-off restaurant on the Wharf...no...run past it. Enough said.
