“Travel Zoo Meal”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

We had the living social meal here and it was well worth the price.
The flight of wines was nice, we are not big wine drinkers so not too many details on the 3 glasses other than there was a blush, wine and red.
The sourdough bread was amazing of course, that was no surprise. Tomato & Basil Bruschetta, fresh and made you want more.
We had the ceasar salad which was so fresh and a nice portion size.
Entree's: Classic San Francisco Cioppino with dungeness crab, prawns, mussels, clams . It was very tasty.

NY steak with grilled asparagus and garlic. The steak had a great char on the outside and cooked medium as ordered. The roasted garlic was the only thing that was a miss, it was dried out and seemed old.

We have not been here before, so I am not sure if the portion sizes were the same as their regular menu. They did give us a specific menu that had TravelZoo at the top. With that said, the portions were on the small side, although the steak was fine a few more asparagus would have been nice or a few potatoes. The Cioppino was a medium size bowl with a decent amount of fresh tasting seafood, but no sides dish. The Bruschetta was great, but again, just 2 pieces.

Our wait staff was outstanding. They were very attentive without being over bearing. The night we were here, there was a convention in the hotel and it looked (by the flight wine glasses) that about half of the tables were the special menu and everyone appeared to be getting the same great service.

We skipped dessert.

“Great Breakfast”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

We had the breakfast buffet. It offered a lot of healthy choices including fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, and fruit smoothies. It also offered an omelet station. The service was very attentive.

The bar area is a nice quiet place to have a cocktail or coffee at the end of the day. There was a piano player playing soft music to help you wind down after a busy day of sightseeing.

“Elaborate and glamorous”
Reviewed July 18, 2013 via mobile

We used a travelzoo voucher and it didn't include tip or tax. The food was delicious and the service was pretty good - for the amount we were paying it could have been better. The wine was delicious.

“Simply Phenomenal”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

I had a brief visit to the Fairmont Hotel many years ago and was determined to return when I had more time. When I recently saw a Travelzoo "deal" for the Laurel Court and knew I would be travelling to San Francisco, I had my chance to start our vacation off with style! The entire experience was excellent from start to finish. We were fortunate to be there a little late on a night without a huge crowd. From the moment we arrived the service was world-class. Every person with whom we dealt from the parking valet to the sommelier was very professional, friendly and efficient. Our waiter in particular was extremely attentive. The food was exquisite and portions were generous. Our “deal” included wines matched to the food and all were very good. The restaurant itself was fabulous—extravagant in fact. The architecture is breathtaking and lighting perfect. Acoustics were a little lively, but not annoyingly so. We could not eat all the food, but they were kind enough to let us take the considerable leftovers with us. This is a great place for a romantic dinner. The “deal” made it very affordable, but I would come here again regardless. It was marvelous in every way.
