Description: Alioto's Italian Seafood Restaurant is located in the heart of San Francisco's famed Fisherman's Wharf overlooking the historic fishing fleet and the Golden Gate Bridge. The Alioto family has been serving the freshest local seafood, authentic family recipes, the oldest/original Italian Seafood Restaurant on the Wharf, started by Nonna Rose back in 1925. The restaurant features a warm ambiance with a 3-tiered dining room offering every guest stunning views of San Francisco Bay. Don't forget to try our world-famous Nonna Rose's Cioppino and Dungeness crab, always fresh. A trip to Alioto's is more than food, it's a trip through history to the oldest family owned and run restaurant in San Francisco, boasting the best views and best seafood on the Wharf.

With over 85 years in the restaurant business, Alioto's is legendary in the San Francisco Fisherman Wharf area. It has good views of the San Francisco Bay.

Alioto's has old school Italian charm. I like the cioppino here, and usually try to save room to share a dessert.

I had a nice late lunch on a Sunday. The lunch menu was good until 4pm. We sat at the window looking out at water and the Golden Gate Bridge. The bread was good and fresh and they brought out more. We had scallops and calamari, which were both good. It was a nice, quiet way to escape the crowds on the wharf. The lunch menu is not nearly like the dinner menu but the price is right.

We have eaten here before and were not disappointed on our return. A traditional atmosphere from a San Francisco institution, with courteous and efficient service, and the fish was excellent as usual. Best to book as with all the best eateries in the city.

We went to Alieto's as a big group and the bill was prohibitive! Everything was very expensive. I think the food is probably good, no one complained, but for the tired atmosphere, the less than inspired decor, and the time it took, it just didn't seem worth it. This seems to be one of those landmark places that is resting on its laurels and not bothering to update due to its fortunate location. The waiter mocked me at least three times to the whole group for ordering chicken, but it was the only thing on the menu I could share with my daughter. :(

Restaurant was convenient right at Fisherman's Wharf. The Dungeness Crab with my salad was wonderful but Clam chowder was average. Hardly any clams but taste was ok. But then I'm used to the best clam chowder from Legal Sea foods in Massachusetts!
