“Our favorite at Fisherman's Wharf”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

The setting is quite simple and the place may not have a lot of atmosphere, but the friendly staff compensate for that; and we are always happy with the food here, from first-rate variations of chowder, to simple and traditional seafood meals to more special dishes; and the prices are reasonable;

“Food was good, Service and Comfort lacking”
Reviewed December 16, 2013

We returned to the hotel restaurant for a late (8 PM?) meal with kids. No complaints about the food but the service and overall comfort -- chairs, room temperture, never could find a server when you needed one.
Like the hotel, the restaurant has a nautical theme, including hard wooden chairs and a bit of a draft. The bar had run out of Pisco so they were not serving the signature Peruvian Punch, but the other drinks were available. The food was the highlight. A nice steak with seasoned mashed potatoes and asparagus, crab cakes, and Caesar salad were great. The kids meals included mac and cheese and a grilled cheese which was too dry. They were served with a choice of fruit or veggies.
Service, which is usually a hallmark of the Kimpton chain was just a bit lacking - hard to flag down a server when you needed one. So go here for the food and the convenience, but not much else. For the price, I expected better.

“Soup was outstanding.”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

We went in with friends for happy hour drinks. While there we enjoyed the shrimp and red pepper soup and the crab and clam chowder. It was excellent! It has great ambience and its very a cute little restaurant attached to the Argonaut hotel.

“Corn Chowder was delicious”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

This was my 2nd visit and it was just as good as I remembered. The corn chowder was the dish that drew me back and fish and chips were perfectly done.
