The restaurant is located near Fisherman's Wharf and features seafood, specializing in Clam Chowder. It has several different varieties to try, all of which are great in their own flavoring. They do offer a "sampler" of 3 different (you choice) chowders, which I highly recommend. The pricing is very reasonable, especially for that area and the service is very good with knowledgeable staff. If you like chowder or seafood, this restaurant is well worth your time.

We dined at Blue Mermaid because it had good reviews, but we wanted to make sure to write our feedback.
The food was poor at best. Service was slow, but the atmosphere was very nice.
There was a hair in our bread, the talapia was indelible, the chowder was filled with potatoes and lacking clams - very unflavored. Also, the fish and chips was horrible and slippery. We would not eat here again.

We ate outside in the courtyard each time, two breakfasts and one dinner. All meals excellent, so was the service. Very pleasant way to start the day.

We came from Australia and on a tour were told that the Blue Mermaid was the perfect place for award winning chowder. It was lovely. The food was great, generous and tasty. No problem with seating and the service by Parry was fantastic. Gratuity was included for our group of five but it was worth it. Wish I was a local so I could go back soon.

We ducked into the Blue Mermaid after a morning of walking the waterfront and enjoying a fun but chilly open-air city tour. We had sourdough bread with crab & corn and California clam chowders. I can't imagine either chowder being any better anywhere. Service was prompt, cheerful, and helpful. Decent Cabernet Sauvignon and coffee, too. I'd come back, for sure.
