“Oh my freaking god. This place is AMAZING!”

Small restaurant with authentic spanish feel. The food is amazing and I'd recommend the 'Calamares A La Plancha Con Aioli'. It is absolutely PERFECT. The service is wonderful and the ambience is magical. Great food, good date spot. Mind-blowing tapas!

“Really fun evening”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

My wife took me here for my birthday at the recommendation of our son in law and daughter ( who joined us and did the ordering). It was great fun and a new eating experience in the city. Tucked away on Hyde Street it was packed to the gills and they do not take reservations so we had a bit of a wait. Tip. Be patient and wait for a table in the front of the restaurant.

It is loud and busy but that is part of the charm. We shared about five different taps and finished it off with paella.....excellent. A carafe of sangria was the perfect beverage to go along with this casual, fun and very San Francisco dining experience.

I, sure we will be back.

Great food and sangria - busy place, you may need to wait on a table becoming available. A bit on the noisy side though

“Great Neighborhood Tapas”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

My husband and I stumbled across Zarzuela without looking for it, and we were very fortunate that we did. We both love Spanish food, and this place has the best Spanish food we've ever had in the U.S. We tried the Gambas Ajillo (shrimp sauteed in garlic and olive oil), the Chroizo al Vino (Spanish sausage sauteed in a wine sauce), Croquettas de Jamon y Pollo (ham and chicken croquettes), Patatas Bravas (fried potators in a spiced tomato sauce), and Plato de Queso Variado (a cheese plate with Mahon, Manchego, and Cabrales cheeses). Everything was fantastic, as was the Spanish rose we ordered to accompany it. The service was fantastic and the restaurant was full of customers who were clearly regulars.

“The Place for Tapas”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We perfer a wide selection of small dishes to main courses - a variety that can be shared. If we have a problem with Zarzuela it is that there are too many great dishes to choose. No matter what we selected we were pleased with the quality, preparation and serving. As always the wine list had what we wanted. The four of us had at least 6 different dishes and 2 bottles of wine for about $175, which we consider a bargin.
