Description: A favorite in the Cow Hollow neighborhood, Rose's Café is a hangout for locals who bask in the sun at sidewalk tables, duck inside for a cappuccino, or stay for a leisurely lunch or dinner. Many customers are regulars who frequent our pretty bistro-café that offers table service and deliciously consistent food - Italian fare created using organic local produce, fresh seafood, humanely raised meats, and free-range poultry. Rose's artisan bakers bake a daily selection of pastries, desserts and breads. Menu highlights include: pizzas, daily soups, and house made pastas.

“A Fine Beakfast in San Francisco, what a Concept!”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

The City, much like another top food destination, New Orleans, does not offer a lot high quality morning breakfast destinations, fine hotels not withstanding. My wife had purchased tickets for the post WW2 Abstract Expressionist exhibit at the de Young, and knowing I'd need to eat something substantial before taking on such a daunting task, I offered to take her to the very excellent Moma's in North Beach, another terrific breakfast destination. We hoped if we arrived as it opened at 8:00 PM we would avoid the usual rock concert line. Sadly, we were wrong. The line stretched the entire length of the block, at least 60 people standing in the fog waiting for maybe 20 tables. Oh well.

We cruised the City but, other than hotels found nothing appealing until she remembered Rose's Café at Union and Webster. We found parking right away and waited about 10 minutes for a table, which may be some kind of record in SF.

The interior very much resembles a storybook country inn. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating. The nine-entree selection offered enough diversity to appeal to most anyone. We both thoroughly enjoyed the café latte served in a petit bol, wonderful favor and visually very pleasing. We ordered the Soft Scrambled Eggs with Spinach and Prosciutto and the Yukon Gold Potato Hash with Corn Beef and poached eggs, both well prepared. The hash plate is generous and particularly suited to those with larger appetites.

So if you're looking for a good breakfast, and then maybe a stroll down the hill to the Marina, check out Rose's Café. We'll be back.

“Really enjoyed this lovely local restaurant”
Reviewed June 26, 2014

Visiting from Australia, our hotel recommended here. Thought we would show up with no booking at around 8.30 mid week on the off chance we may get in. We were lucky as two, people were just leaving. Loved the atmosphere, the service was great, the food was beautiful, we shared a pizza and fig salad with a carafe of red. Loved the experience, thank you .

“Cozy neighborhood cafe with delicious, healthy food”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

While visiting San Francisco, we stumbled upon Rose's and decided the menu looked good, so we stopped for a late lunch. The menu includes wild salmon, which was very appealing to me, but not as a sandwich, and the restaurant was flexible to serve it with a salad. A couple at the next table heard us discussing the menu and offered some advice, as they are local and come there several times a week. That was a very good endorsement for the restaurant.

Our server was very helpful explaining the menu. Since it was mid-afternoon, the restaurant was not very busy, so we did not have a long wait. The coffee was very good. The atmosphere is very cozy and inviting, and the menu very interesting. If I lived there, I would definitely be a regular.
