Visited Acquerello in a family trip and were extremely happy to become part of the thousands of people that love this restaurant.
The place itself is elegant and tastefully decorated yet simple enough not to compete with the reason to be there: the food.
They suggest gentlemen to wear jacket and believe me the place deserves it.
Nissa is the kind of person that can make your night a memorable one. She took the service to a whole new dimensión, being so warm, nice, knowledgeable and helpful that we started misssing her as son as we stepped out the restaurant.
She spoiled us with countless details, even allowing us to make a few changes to the structure of the menus.
There are three, four and five courses menus, plus a tasting one which consist of 14 plate.
Among many exquisite dishes, the Foie-Gras Truffled linguini was the winner of the night.
We are not big fans of desserts, but the three we tried were delicious: Fluorless Chocolate cake, Carrot Canolli and Bourbon caramel.

Amazing in every regard. Acquerello understands taste, temperature, texture, color, balance, and fragrance at such an intimate elevated level you'll think it was divinely inspired. Impossible to pick a favorite course from my 10 plus plate Tasting Menu (and the additional off Menu surprises). I'm not going to brag about all the cool places I eat because honestly there are not many Restaurants at this level regardless of where you are in the world. It's clever, the ingredients shine and it feels slightly old school...that is until you wrap your brain around the ebony bowl of delicate dashi broth and sweet briny par cooked prawn, reinvented "foie gras"
sauce that gently coats your tongue with just the right amount of butter and cream, bean "risotto", brioche toast with airy truffle...Gorgeous food that
will amaze and delight your palate.
Dessert, cheese and Wine as brilliant as the food (unimprovable). Pairings are exceptional and not an easy task with many of the dishes but perfect. Background on the wines was interesting but geared more towards someone that doesn't know a thing about wine or a cork dork that doesn't know how to converse about anything else.
Service is all around excellent from start to finish.

Perfect ending to a wonderful trip to SanFrancisco and Napa. Food, Atmosphere, service were all 5 stars! Will definitely come back next time we're in San Francisco. One of the best meal experiences we've ever had, and we've been to some of the best restaurants in the country!

We've been dining at Acquerello since it opened and it has turned into our favorite special occasion restaurant in San Francisco and we have celebrated many anniversaries there. It has only grown better over the years. It is elegant and romantic, and the service is unsurpassed. The food is wonderful. The wine list is very large and deep in Italian and California wines. Unless you are a wine expert, I would suggest you ask them to pair wines with what you have ordered. For that romantic dinner, it is perfect.

In a short trip to San Francisco, and with a tripadviser help. I could taste one of the best fine culinary in town though.
My partner and I, couldn't make reservation before, but even getting there quite late, luckily or not. We got a nice table and had a wonderful treatment. Such excellent staff working there! They really know how to make you feel comfortable and what they're talking about.

The ambient it might be a bit too serious, but doesn't change any of the tasteful, delicious, supreme 3, 4 or 5 main courses that you may choose.
Excellent wine list as well.
