Description: Acquerello, named for its original watercolors, envelops guests in a warm and gracious atmosphere the moment they arrive. "At Acquerello, we believe that refined luxury is always in style. Our desire is to provide our guests an experience of classic and contemporary Italian tastes in an elegant dining atmosphere." The 40 seat dining room has an upscale and quiet ambiance. The room, designed by John Wheatman, highlights the former chapel, graced with arches and a rustic wood-beamed vaulted ceiling, with warm Mediterranean colors of gold and terracotta. Acquerello's contemporary approach to Italain cuisine combines the freshest ingredients available, an innovative approach to classic Italian flavors, and modern techniques. Guests can design their own three, four or five course dinner with the Prix Fixe Menus or choose to enjoy the preset chef's Seasonal Tasting Menu. Acquerello,in its more than 25 years in operation, has received countless accolades and awards, including a Michelin star in the first-ever 2007 Bay Area guide, two Michelin Stars in 2015, and a Wine Spectator Grand Award for the wine list continuously since 2012.

Not much to look at from the street, but step through the glass doors and a whole new world opens up. A warm greeing from the desk, and through to your table. Graciousness cloaks you as you gaze at the Venetian colored walls, the touches of the city echoed in the artwork.

The menus here, and there are 3 right now, offer you the finest cuisine available in SF. Chef Cresham-Tognetti works wonders in her kitchen, time and time again. The wines on offer are perfect compliments to the superb cuisine.

A delightful dining experience, pricey of course, but worth it, very.

Come relax, suppe, laugh, and enjoy this gem.

My son always picks a top restaurant when I visit him in San Francisco and I am doing the paying. Acquerello was the best ever. From the beautiful rose-hued room to the impeccably attentive service to the excellent food, the entire evening was a joy (even after the not modest bill arrived.) We enjoyed the tasting menu with well-matched wines. Everything about the dining experience was perfect (except for the overly amorous couple at the next table! Hardly the fault of the restaurant.)

I heard rave reviews of the dining experience at Acquerello. On a recent business trip I made a reservation and had one of the best meals I ever had. The fois gras pasta scented with black truffles and Marsala was the best pasta dish I have ever had. The service was top notch and the wine pairing was perfectly matched to the classic tasting menu selections. Truly fantastic.

If want to splurge and have a first class meal, this is the place. Tasting menu meal and the chef is great (she came out and talked with us and also gave other places to try during our stay). Staff if is excellent. Plan on a long intimate meal with great food and drink.
