“Intimate , Good food & atmosphere”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

This small local restaurant one block from Lombard St. is intimate and private. The menu is somewhat limited but the food is very good and the Martinis are excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. Prices very reasonable for an "In Town" restaurant. Just bring cash or a check; they don't accept credit cards.

“Great Food Great Prices”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Although there is usually a wait for most of us who come here as tourists during Fleet Week, it is well worth it. For diners, the atmosphere is intimate and cozy. For the bar, there is a friendly crowd of neighborhood locals. Inside are small dimly lit lamps on rustic tables where you are handed a pleasing menu and wine list with reasonable prices. It's quite comfortable here and hours of conversation, good food and wine, can make you stay longer than you planned. The food is quite good and there are many delicious choices from appetizers to entrees. I'm sure you'll be keeping this restaurant on your frequent dining list.

“Great food and staff and a good place to meet people”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

I was introduced to the Brazen Head by a friend who lives in San Francisco several years ago. I go there every year when visiting friends and my mom. I haven't had a bad meal (the menu isn't gigantic like some places so is not trying to be all things to all people - several good choices and they do them well - I think I had an eggplant dish which was very reasonable and a great portion - maybe even an appetizer I think. There beef is very good also) there yet and the staff at the bar are very good people - attentive and good conversationalists - so I almost always sit at the bar. This last time I was on my own and met 3 really interesting people who I had long conversations with. This has happened while sitting in the restaurant area also which had a very cozy intimate feeling. It can be quite busy as it is a very popular spot and does not have a sign outside so you have to know the address or that it is on the corner of Buchanan and Greenwich. I don't remember if they take reservations but there can be a lineup so hang out on the bar first and strike up a conversation. It is a fun lively place and a must if you are in the city and like the Marina district which nowadays is hopping with great pubs restos and interesting shopping on Chestnut. Just superb!!! They also own Liverpool Lil's which is maybe a mile west and also has a cool atmosphere with a patio in good weather and larger bar/pub area with small restaurant seating at back - again great atmosphere and lively crowd.

“Great restaurant, great atmosphere!”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

We stumbled upon this atmospheric restaurant/bar at 10pm on a Saturday night after a recommendation by the hotel we were staying at that is just diagonally across the road. It is dimly lit, romantic, buzzing with atmosphere and serves food until 1am!
Even on a Saturday night we were able to get a table and it was so good we returned on the Sunday. The first night we had the Chowder and a salad to start followed by Mussels on the Specials menu and the New York Strip Steak, one of their specialities. All excellent!
The following night, on my wife's recommendation we again had the salad with tangerine, pecans, goat's cheese and spinach followed by the Fillet Steaks. All of the food was delicious and even late on a Sunday there was a good vibe, the service was attentive and friendly and the prices were very reasonable.
The restaurant doesn't have any big advertising signs outside but simply 3166 Buchanan.
Highly recommended.

“Unbeatable atmosphere!”
Reviewed November 22, 2012 via mobile

Great place for a romantic night out to get away from fast food and fishermanns wharf..
The interior is like an old ship and the food is pretty good as well.. I had a nice steak!
Maybe Brazen head should update their beer card and get some more beers and there was only two tapped beers..
It seems like the place where good beers will fit in...
