It is hard to imagine how a restaurant can combine an excellent, interesting menu with incredibly good service....but here it is. Each server we had was truly excellent...always there when needed, performing as only a superbly trained professional can. From the moment the valet opened the restaurant door for us to departure we were immersed in professionalism and pleasantness.

The food was divine...from the lobster starter to the chocolate soufflé. Our filet mignons were prepared with a delicious sauce, slightly crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked inside. Portions were ample and appropriate: none of the pea-sized portions that other "celebrity" chefs underwhelm you with.

Go, and enjoy every moment!

Having heard great things abt this Restaurant, in Fisherman's Wharf, I booked it 6 weeks in advance and could only get a 9pm booking. This is supposed to be the best restaurant in SF. There was nothing wrong with the Restaurant, food or service but it lacked excitement, that little bit of 'je ne sais quoi' which you expect from the best. It just wasn't there. I think that the place is resting on its laurels and charging like a wounded bull - it isn't that good. Feels like any restaurant in, say, a Grant Hyatt chain hotel. OK for the tourists, but there are other serious chefs around who do better than this.

My daughter brought me to SAN FRANCISCO for my birthday,she insisted we go here for dinner one night. It went above our expectations in every way. The wait staff were outstanding and the food was wonderful. The choice of three/four/five items regardless of course was a nice treat. Definitely a splurge but we'll worth it.

A must see/do for a visit to the Bay. Dont be shocked by the prices because you are at one of if not the most famous place to eat in San Francisco.

Having recently been to many top-rated restaurants that seemed more interested in showcasing their brilliance, it was refreshing to experience Gary Danko's focus on ensuring diners have fantastic experiences. The service was both warm and friendly; the food was perfectly prepared and presented without unnecessary pretense.

Because all servings are generous (no "tasting sizes") and you have the ability to choose "all entrees" (instead of the usually mandatory starter and dessert), you should be cautious ordering more than the three course menu. They offer so many gratis courses that you still end up with an interesting beginning and sweet ending without the additional courses. The risotto, roasted lobster (again, no supplement) and venison were all amazing.

Book early - and use Relais & Chateau hotel/restaurant contacts if you have them to secure a table.
