“A first upscale/highend Asian cuisine dinning experience for me”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Feels that each dish at Hakkasan packs interesting flavors with a twist of fusion creativity. Personally i liked the truffle flavored noodles and the vegeterian chicken dish. The place is a bit expensive, but well worth it in the end.
For those that are looking for a quiet meal - The atmosphere was abit dark and accompanied with loud music.

Have to save up some $$$ but can't to try the one in NYC.

“Hakkasan, yeah man!”
Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

Basically imagine if a royal king had a fight with a Chinese chef and in a strange twist the fight ended up them being lovers...the hakkasan is their love child. I do not like Chinese food i always get Thai instead but this is royal Chinese food!! Superb

“Fantastic all around!”
Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

I have visited Hakkasan the last two days while in San Francisco. I've had amazing drinks and the dim sum is mouth watering. Try the soup dumplings! I've been sitting at the bar and Alex has been serving me and I believe you are lucky if you've had the pleasure of him serving you. He has made wonderful suggestions.

“Contemporary Chinese/ Cantonese Cuisine”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

Perfect for a corporate meal; definitely pricy if you're paying on your own.

The contemporary Chinese/ Cantonese dishes @ Hakkasan is reminiscent of the noveau chinese food that has swept the Asian countries in the last decade or so; think the Tung Look Group in Singapore/ China

The 11 of us had dinner family style. Highlights:

- Steamed Dimsum Platter: the crab and shrimp dishes in particular were fresh, light and high quality. The little morsels were the perfect dimsum size, unlike the typical Chinatown gargantum servings
- Fried Dimsum Platter: Good but I enjoyed the steamed version beter
- Shrimp Toast: SO good; could have eaten a few more baskets of this
- Panfried Dumplings: Not my choice; someone at the tab;e REALLY wanted it. But it was pretty good
- Crispy Silver Cod with Superior Soy Sauce: I don't eat cooked fish but i took a small bite of it- and proceeded to steal a few more bites. Delicious. This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks that I caved to cod. Maybe i don't dislike cooked fish as much as i thought
- Chicken Fried Rice with Salted Fish: The salted fish was a little too subtle for my taste, but it was pretty good nonetheless
- Tofu Aubergine & Shitaki Mushroom in Claypot: Good, esp if there're vegetarians at the table
- Stir Fried Lamb: Juicy and flavorful; loved it
- Stewed Pork Belly: Luscious, silky, decadent. It came with steamed buns on the side, which i didn't even bother with. It was delicious
- Stir fried black pepper beef ribeye with merlot: Another flavorful meat dish; tender and delicious
- Black Truffle Roasted Duck: I wanted to hoard the entire serving and not share it with everyone. Meat was succulent, tender, juicy and truffly. Yes, that's a word.
- Lobster Noodles: By the time this came out, ppl at the table were kinda done; they should have busted it out with the rest of our dishes. It was good but...
- Truffle brasied noodle with crab and scallop:...i preferred this noodle dish to the Lobster one. It was way more flavorful and the noodles were perfectly al dente

We had all the desserts at the table; our faves were:
- Chocolate Orange Ice Cream; in a chocolate shell
- Pineapple in a glass: delicious
- PB&J: Creamy and chocolatety

Overall, a very enjoyable meal, esp since we got to taste a ton of dishes. Great vibe, good service, delicious food. Hope to be back for another biz lunch/ dinner

“Pricey Chinese food but well worth it!”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

I thought that this was all a hype and who wants to pay for expensive chinese food? Well, I do if it is fantastic! I can't wait to go again. You enter on the corner of Kearny between Geary and Market. Take the elevator upstairs to an enchanting dining room with the feel of 'Old Shanghai'! The service is splendid however it is weird to have a caucasian guy try to explain Chinese food to me....When eating chinese food, the great chefs are always compared by their knowledge of bring out the 'wok' flavor in their food and Hakkasan definitely do deliver. The Hakka noodles and the Truffle braised noodles.... OMG..... so so good.. the flavoring is so delicious. The chef does a great job of bring out the Truffles in the braised noodles. I am not sure what sauce they use in the Hakka noodles, but they need to bottle that. I recommend ordering all the DIM SUM that you normally do not see on other chinese menus... i.e. Lobster Daikon roll, roast duck pumpkin puff, king crab roll with noodles, morsel crystal dumplings, scallop dumplings.... skip the har gow and lok bak go... you can get that in chinatown!

BTW, the bar is beautiful.... great place for happy hour! Also they have a prix fix lunch for about $29.00 but we prefered to order off the menu..... can't wait to go back....
