I was very pleased to have a birthday dinner at Incanto with friends while on a business trip to the Bay Area. It was really an outstanding meal fueled by some of the most creative dishes I've seen in a long while. The lamb neck with polenta was amazing and we also shared the Manzo and three of the pasta plates among four of us. The service was informative and friendly without being pushy. Everything was on-time and well presented--no rushing, but no wasted time either. The wine list is excellent and very reasonable for a restaurant of this quality, too. I can't think of any weaknesses...

We really wanted to come here because of the unique menu served by the restaurant. It's located in Noe Valley which is four miles from downtown which is not a problem getting to but getting back on a Friday night via taxi was a little bit of a challenge.
The wine list is completely Italian. We brought a bottle but also tried a couple of glasses from their list.
Started off with duck pate with a quince jam. Went great with the crostini they provided.
Second course was a truffle risotto. Very good without truffle overpowering the risotto.
There were a couple of share items on the menu. We chose the trotter (lower part of pig leg) and snail pie. This was really good as it also had heart of palm, mushrooms and some other vegetables in it.
We weren't disappointed. My wife is pretty straitlaced when it comes to food but she really enjoyed the experience.
The staff was attentive and they really knew what all the food menu were and how they were prepared.
I would definitely come back here for dinner.

If you are ever going to eat the 'whole hog' bits and parts of a pig...this is the place to do it. Really creative menu. Meat is the focus, but they don't overdo it and there is a lot of variety...but of you are a carnivor, this is the place for you. The staff did a really great job dealing with our somewhat difficult group, and they managed to accomodate us on a packed night when there was a mix-up with our reservations. Great selection of italian wine. One of the few "star" chef places where the chef was actually working on a wed. night cooking our food.

Incanto has everything in place to be a truly great restaurant: quiet neighborhood location, friendly staff, tasty nose-to-tail meats, cute celebrity chef....how could one complain? When one arrives on time for a 8pm reservation made a month before, is made to wait for 20 minutes before being seated (no offer of a glass of Prosecco to ease the pain), whist one cannot help but notice several empty tables mysteriously unavailable to the 3 differant couples standing in a cramped entry, the hopeful and famished diners-to-be can become very cranky indeed. Eventually seated at one of the aforementioned mysterious, empty tables, our usual powers of menu intuiting were skewed, and we ordered badly. Instead of the feeling of alchemically-induced bliss one experiences at the completion of an excellent dinner, we are slightly woozy and dispeptic. Even the appearance of Chef Cosentino does nothing to lighten the moment. Sigh. Maybe next time....

If you're wanting an upscale meal that will titillate your taste-buds, this is the place for you. The prices are to be expected for a restaurant with this reputation, but the portions were larger than we expected - much larger! The ever-changing menu had many wonderful choices, and that night's specials were interesting and fun. We had more than enough food and it was all outstanding. The Big Rib dinner for 2 was beyond amazing - flavor, size, price, deliciousness. Would definitely return!
