“Tasty Brunch”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Came here to enjoy a walk through the Mission and have a nice brunch with my wife. The building is fantastic. You literally walk into a rundown, old movie theater which opens up into a bright concrete-esque seating area with trendy looking people all over the place.

The food is fantastic, with all sorts of little flavors exploding everywhere. Very well done, although a little bit expensive. I had the chef's recommendation for the drink, which was called (I think) a "Love in the Afternoon." Different, but not that exciting. Originally I was hoping to get a Boont's Amber Ale, which was listed on the menu but it apparently was out of stock.

Overall though, great atmosphere and great food. Go and have a memorable (albeit pricey) meal and take a walk around the neighborhood while you're at it too, to get the full Mission experience.

“An Oasis in the Mission”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

This was really quite a great place. Service is professional and knowledgeable. Food nicely presented.

Ask for a bowl of the fresh popcorn with drinks before apps. Delicious.

The bonus is that you can actually see a movie shown at dusk on a large wall on the outdoor patio.

Pork Chop was large enough for two....and delicious, Tuna was also great. Desserts: try the chocolate cake with the caramel with touches of salt.

I gave this 4 stars instead of five since the menu is somewhat limited for someone with particular tastes. If you find something you like on the menu, it would be 5 stars. If you have to reach a little, you will still be satisfied although initially a little curious.

“Fantastic SF Experience”
Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I had dinner with her sister and husband and all enjoyed a nice meal. Starting with a great drink and then progressing through wonderful appetizers. We had the beef carpaccio and goat cheese in a fig leaf. The only critical feedback I can provide is that there needs to be more baked bread with the goat cheese.

For our main course, I enjoyed the duck, while my wife had the ahi tuna. Both dishes were fantastic! I got to enjoy a wonderful pâté with the duck that was so smooth. However, the big winner of the night was the pork chop that my brother-in-law had for dinner. It was marinated and cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this dish or any other that we had that evening.

For dessert was a peach tart. It came with corn ice cream (which tastes EXACTLY as it sounds) but substituted it with the vanilla/almond ice cream as suggested by our waitress (great call)! The cheese course and chocolate pot de creme were also very good.

With the exception of the location, this restaurant is perfect (and the location is easily accessible by cab). Usually we like to walk to dinner but was advised not to because of the neighborhood. If you're in SF, I would recommend this restaurant highly!

“Hidden treasure”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Took the wife and daughter here for her 23rd birthday. Very surprised as we waited outside for the doors to open and then shocked at the hidden treasure down the hallway. Had a chance to meet Chef Gayle who was available and very gracious despite being in the middle of a very packed dinner service and from what we observed, she is extremely hands-on. As we told her at the risk of sounding too cliche, the way that she blends tastes and textures and presentation made for a truly extraordinary culinary experience. From reading other reviews, I take it we were lucky to have chosen to eat early so the service was superb. The cocktails were special, the wine list was extensive, and the menu was so much fun to peruse we had difficulty making our selections. Everything we had was delicious, original, and artfully presented. Can't wait to go back again.
