With but one exception, our food at Woodward's garden has always been excellent. The exception? Salt... too much... on my flat iron steak... early morning dehydration headache. But all the other items... especially the scallops and the beet-onion ravioli for the starter and the chicken for the main (who orders chicken at an upscale foodie restaurant?... You can here!).
Woodwards is located under a freeway on the edge of the Mission area. While it can be somewhat intimidating for the uninitiated to venture into this area... its bark is worse than its bite.Parking is fairly easy and if you take public transport, the best route from downtown is via the #14 bus running along Mission. Don't be dismayed when the bus lets you off infront of a shelter, the restaurant is only 300 feet or so down the road. Cab fare from downtown is about $10.
We found this restaurant abaout 10 years ago. It has an exceptionally loyal following, primarily locals, and it deserves your attention on a visit. The food is certainly high quality and we will return. The attentive owner is onsite and may be your waiter.
