We had never eaten at this restaurant so we did not know the procedure. We did not order from a menu - instead the servers move through the narrow aisles and sort of threw the food at us. It was crazy! The food was tasty, but we couldn't really enjoy it because of the serving methods. Maybe if we were regular customers, we would adjust and appreciate the food. The hostess should ask customers if they have dined with them before, and if not, explain it so the diners could better appreciate the dining experience. We really had no idea of the cost of our lunch until the bill arrived and it shocked us because it was really expensive.

I have been eating here for many years.

It is pricey and excellent.

They have two restaurants, both can be reached from most of the downtown hotels.

Get there when they open so you won't have to wait.

We liked it so much we went twice! We enjoyed crab claws, steamed prawns, ribs, sea bass, sticky rice, pork buns and it was all very good. We hadn't booked and given how busy it was, we were lucky to get a table. An excellent dim sum and a must visit on any future visit to San Francisco.

We are frequent diners of dim sum in New York. Having grown up in an Asian homes, dim sum is part of our lives. Our family had visited San Francisco and suggested we have dim sum at Yank Sing while we were in town. We were quite pleased with the quality and taste of the foods and the service is exceptional. What we were not used to were the prices. If memory serves, I believe the price of one steamer basket of Shanghai soup dumplings was $12. Though they were delicious, I am not used to spending that much money. New York's Chinatown has excellent Shanghai soup dumplings for no more than half that price. Maybe business associates use expense accounts or patrons where money is no object frequent the restaurant but it is too much for us to spend.

We had heard great things about this place and it lived up to the hype. This is the first time we'd had Dim Sum and it was delicious! The staff was extremely helpful and patient in explaining items and making sure we had what we needed. Everything we ate was amazing and the signature dumplings are a don't miss. We went to the Stevenson location and had a great table on the covered patio. I would make a reservation. A must eat while in San Fran.
