Tartine is a great and fun trip in San Francisco. The open faced sandwiches and cinnamon buns are simply fantastic. Their famous dedication for natural yeast and slow development of dough turns out the best, greatest bread I've ever tasted. If you are awake in SF before 10am and won't maid taking a quick cab/walk to their bakery it's really worth it. After 10am the lines are really long so don't go too hungry...

expect to wait however it was well worth it. everything looks amazing and i wanted to eat it all. Had banana cream tart (amazing), croque monsieur (amazing), they run out of the fresh juices pretty quickly. bathroom available for customers and cute seating area outside.

Tartine's food is fantastic, both their pastries and their meals. The only problem is, everyone knows that this is true, so their small space, which is cramped when empty, is always packed to the level of discomfort. Even if you do get a table, the people waiting in line or for tables to open up will be hovering around you. Go, but prepare to wait in line and be ready to take things to go and walk over to Dolores Park with your treats.

There will always be a line but that's because it's worth the wait. The banana cream tart is excellent but so is just about everything else. The only problem is that you can never count on getting a seat. I recommend getting something to go and having a picnic.
