“Satisfying meal and great service”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

Picked this restaurant for proximity to hotel, wanting a relatively early night during a conference trip to SF. What a pleasant surprise. The service was charming and attentive. None of us felt up to the full dinner menu, so the waiter suggested we leave it to him. We had a wonderful meal with most of the items on the full menu between us, plus wine, for around $85. The food was tasty and plentiful. The low tables, dim lighting and sofas were an interesting change, although one of us found the eating at a low table a little testing. Later in the evening we were treated to 2 belly dancers, and the entertainment of a large group getting up to join in. The little touches, the washing of hands at the table, and orange water rinse at the end of the meal, the tea poured from a great height all made it a fun evening. Every member of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.

“Great food! Attentive, friendly service.”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

My girlfriend and I had got in to SF and were wandering the streets around the Union Square shopping area looking for a restaurant. She was going to treat me since it was my birthday and wanted something memorable. We happened on the Marrakech by chance and it ended up being a great find.

We decided on the all inclusive dinner. It included appetizers, entree and dessert and was listed as $39.95. We asked if we could just share this and our waiter responded that "We will take care of you"...and they certainly did. First they brought out water and a basin so that we could wash our hands. Then they brought out appetizers to be eaten with bread, an eggplant one, a tomato based one, and hummus as well which they said was on the house. The hummus was especially good! After that they brought bowls of lentil soup. And then our final appetizer was a kind of pastry, a mix of sweet and savory. All of these were delicious but I had to really watch myself. I didn't want to get full before the main course and that was a definite possibility here, so beware!

For our main entree we ordered the Couscous Royale. This had two large pieces of meat, lamb and chicken, with vegetables and couscous cooked kinda like a stew with hot sauce on the side. Delicious!

Dessert was baclava. Sweet and flaky, perfect. And to top it off they bought out orange water to wash our hands and leave ourselves with a nice fragrant touch.

We ended up staying 3 hours for dinner. They didn't have the belly dancers that night. We were there on a Monday night and found out that they are there only later on in the week and on the weekend. Nevertheless, the owner and one of his family members entertained us with music. They even sang me a happy birthday tune. Loved it! Thanks so much!! If we ever come back to SF we will come visit again.

One piece of advice to the restaurant - I would put your restaurant name in bright letters on the sidewalk awning to better identify and attract visitors on the street. I wouldn't want people to miss your place!

“Fantastic Service. Fun Experience.”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

A work colleague and I split the Morrocan sampler plate which contained a wide variety of foods I had never tried before. I was extremely impressed with the fast and courteous service, and the Belly Dancing was just the icing on the cake.

“Great service. Fun with big groups!”
Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

We were there with a big group. Appetizers were delish. I enjoyed the lentil soup and bastila. Skewers were good too!

The Lebanese beer, attentive staff, and rose water were also nice touches.

“Go late and enjoy the show!”
Reviewed June 25, 2013 via mobile

I made the mistake of going before 8pm when the entertainment begins. The food is delicious. The lamb, delicious and tender. The set menu may be too much for one person. I took some leftovers thinking of lunches. Next time I'll go later and hopefully a weekend.
