Seriously wonderful beer served by the liter. We got there around 3pm after biking all day and enjoyed our brew. Food is also offered, but we didnt' try any.

This is a great place to drink a beer on a sunny SF day. The beer selection changes and you can find good German beer and imports on tap. Also, Suppenkuche dishes are served on the patio. Doesn't get much better than that! Expect a long wait to get in if the day is warm and it's a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday!

Located in uber hip Hayes Valley, this joint hits the spot if keen for a little outdoor, hipster-infused German drink and fare.

Now I don't mean to suggest there is anything wrong with "hipster-infused", it is simply a good mix of young and old, cool but friendly, all with one purpose - sampling a traditional German Biergarten in SF.

We were a group and ordered pretty much a few of everything. Naturally the beer was nice, as was the pork sandwhich, brats and sausages, and kartoffel salad! You order at a central desk, and then find a spot on a traditional Oktoberfest style table ... it worked for us, allowing us to chat with some Dutch folks at our table.

Its an outdoor spot with no cover, and tends to be open non-typical hours (closes by 8 or so), so call ahead to ensure they open.

All in all, highly recommended for the food and scene.

it's raining but who cares when you are at a fun beer garden right in the middle of Hayes valley. What a great idea. Outdoor seating with umbrellas on most tables and warm blankets just in case you need one. We ordered the bratwurst basket which includes 2 bratwurst, sauerkraut and a soft pretzel. Oh and yummy pork belly sandwiches (2 mini to an order)! Oh and of course a Black Logger! I feel like I'm in Germany! Extra plus, I love the friendly staff. Oh yes, they are so well equipped... outdoor kitchen and there are even very clean outdoor bathrooms (after all that beer!).

Like half litters of beer in the sun with delicious German food served in the mix? Than this is the place for you, real German beer hall tables are used for this open aired beer garden, but be warned it can be very crowded on sunny days and down right frigid if the fog rolls in.
