“Great dessert. Good tasting menu.”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We had the tasting menu last weekend and the food was pretty good. The portion was really small though, and the service was a bit slow.

The highlight was the dessert. The plating was beautiful and the flavor was complex. We were celebrating a friend's birthday who happened to be Chinese, and the pastry chef wrote "Happy Birthday" on his dessert plate in Chinese! We were really impressed.

The dinner climax at the moment when the handsome pastry chef, Francis, came out and greeted us in person. The female diners at our table were all blushing, and all were heartbroken when we learned that Francis is married. It was funny to be in the middle of all this.

Overall, the experience was really good and if we come back again next time, we may go for the a la carte menu and definitely for their dessert.

“Mediocre bar<tender>”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

We went to the bar one night of our stay and found the bar tender to be very slow and unattentive and not very knowledgeable about alcoholic beverages (we asked about some beers and whiskey's and she was not helpful).
She was nothing like the rest of the staff at this hotel - the hotel staff was exceptional!

We went there twice last summer because the duck confit was to die for the first time. The second time didn't disappoint, just as excellent! Oysters 4 ways is delicious and the grilled baby octapus was simply heavenly! Great cocktails and inviting atmosphere as well.

This was an Open Table selection by my friends who reside in San Francisco. It is not a touristy place with loud diners, but a dimly lit elegant food place in a hotel. We loved it! We had wine pairings with each course and both the sommelier and waiter were excellent, with great recommendations and knowledge of the food. Ingredients were local and mostly sustainable. I loved my duck. They also brought out lovel amuse Bouches for us to complement our champagne and wine. All the selections were well thought out, innovative, and something you would find on Top Chef. It is not a place to go unless you respect the craft and appreciate the art of cuisine. Lovely dinner for four. It was the most enjoyable meal I've had on a long time.
