Very carefull menu, with a lot of 'this place only' items. Odd location. The last time we had dishes with 'foams' of artichoke hearts, and a long smooth reduction for the beef.

Let's start with the negatives... it's a difficult place to find, and the lighting and decor is a little too dark. On the plus sides, the service is sublime - possibly the best I have experienced. Effusive and humorous when appropriate, silent and efficient at other times. The foods was incredible, even down to the temperature it was served on the plates. I ate the crab flan as a starter, and what could have been sickly was in fact creamy with an incredible depth of flavor. Similarly the salmon virtually melted on the fork - exquisite presentation. A top restaurant by any cities standard.

Some family members were staying in the hotel where this restaurant is located and since we were meeting for breakfast and since there were 2 small children involved, I suggested we meet them for breakfast in the hotel restaurant. We had been at the chef's event the previous evening and one of the few good samples of food came from this restaurant. However, the breakfast was more than disappointing. We ordered orange juice and coffee before the menu appeared. The menu choices were very limited and very traditional. Each item was over priced, for basic fare such as bacon and eggs. When the bill for 4 people and 2 children arrived (we only ordered 5 meals), it was $145.00 REALLY?? Upon further inspection we noted that the orange juice while good was over $5.00 and the coffee which was awful was over $4.00
We are fully aware that San Francisco is not inexpensive but the following day, we ate at the slanted door for lunch and it was under $50.

Got in late from a long flight and had a nice simple meal before heading out on the town. The main menu looked great but we chose from the lounge menu as we didn't want to spend a long time eating. You'll have to ask for the lounge menu in the main restaurant.

The waiter was very nice and accommodating. No attitude at all for ordering cocktails and burgers. He offered some options for smaller plates from the tasting menu as well.

We had hoped to go back for the tasting but they are closed Sunday and Monday nights. Next time...

Enjoyed a late dinner with friends on 9/20. The Sommelier was also our waiter, and he was quite knowledgeable and courteous.

Started with a beet ravioli, which was out of this world exquisite. I contemplated asking the chef for a bowl as my main entree. For the main, had the wagyu steak, cooked perfectly to medium rare. The smoked potatoes/carrots and onions were perfect accompaniments. I personally, was not a fan of the oxtail marmalade, but then again, I'm not a huge fan of oxtail to begin with.

A great evening if you are looking for high quality, eclectic dining with unique flavor/ingredient combinations.
