OK, I didn't actually eat here
I just went to the upstairs bar to listen to the Monday night jazz and watch the swing dancing.
A perfect 1920's style location with cream walls, open balconies and plants swaying with the breeze.
The atmosphere could not be better.

Thought we might get kicked out for licking the plates clean. We took the advice of previous reviewers and was well rewarded. Thank you trip advisor team!

Brussels sprouts were one of the best things I have ever eaten...and I am not a fan of the veggie normally. I would eat this side dish as a meal with rice as a vegetarian option if I lived here. Really a great meal in a lovely atmosphere. Will make it a point to visit every time we are in San Francisco. My complements to chef and staff.

The restaurant is unusual - its location, its ambience and its delicious French/Vietnamese menu. We would go back any time, but it would also be great for special occasions. The service was attentive, too.

Le Colonial is an unexpected joy in a city where many visitors are unfamiliar with the local scene and where restaurant fronts can be misleading.

The setting is very colonial with plenty of space for a pre dinner drink on a terrace or balcony.

We shared some appetisers which worked well, and the tuna tartare was especially tasty, and mixed to your preference at the table.

Sticking to the house specials was a great decision as both the steamed Sea Bass and the Filet Steak stir fry were both of excellent standard. The fish was served in a leave, so remained both hot and aromatic to the end.

Overall Le Colonial is well worth a visit if you are in the Market Street / Powell area of town, and around, from memory, $360 for four of us with cocktails and beers, good value.

Would have never discovered this by myself, but a friend invited me here for dinner. Although there is a parking lot next to the restaurant, parking may be challenging here - so you better leave your car at home.
The restaurant is nice and has a good atmosphere, with live music occasionally. The food was good, with a big variety of fish dishes. Service is good, staff was nice and friendly.

Do not miss this place if you are in San Francisco.
