“this is the real deal... just like eating in Sicily”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

this is a nice little spot in north beach that is just the right size and place for a great Italian experience. we got a window seat to enjoy some people watching during dinner and had a delightful time. started with the clams/mussels and i'll warn you to get plenty of bread as you'll want to sop up every ounce of the delicious garlicky sauce. we then had the pasta with pesto and veal ravioli with red sauce. I guess I had forgotten how much I enjoy fresh pasta... it will be tough to go back to the box stuff that most restaurants use. prices were reasonable for what we got and serving sizes were good as we were too stuffed for dessert. parking is a hassle as usual but this place is worth it.

“Great Pasta, Good drinks and nice atmosphere”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

Well I am a local in San Francisco now and have been for years, Panta Rei has since remodeled itself and changed from how it used to be. But the food has remained very good and I had dinner their just this past Tuesday, June 11, 2013, they have good food and also some good drinks to choose from.

I would definitely recommend you check it out, its a great starter in north beach if looking for pasta and some music but also they do have a big screen tv for those interested in checking out the game...lol...

I used to go here every thursday for dinner for a few years but haven't really had the time to make it over to much over to north beach for dinner since I work outside the city, but that has changed I will check out some more restaurants going forward. Delicious food, service and quality, also cleanliness is always on my list.

“Curb side restraunt/cafe with good food”

Great place to eat prior to Beach Blanket Babylon. Just a short one half block away.
Service is not nothing to talk about since only one waiter who was tired and stressed out waited on us. Very nice atmosphere and great wine list.

“Great Pasta!”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

We visited here after a day wine tasting in the Napa Valley.
Service was great, prompt and friendly. We were given sour dough with olive oil and balsamic to nibble on while we waited for our mains.
The mushroom tortellini was fabulous, flavor some and filled with juicy mushrooms, the creamy asparagus sauce was tasty and the asparagus spears were cooked well.
The spinach and sausage linguini in a creamy sauce was tasty, hot and plentiful.
We shared a panacotta for dessert and it was beautifully wobbly and silky smooth topped by a tasty caramel top!
Definitely a place to visit again

“Great Find in North Beach”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

We chose this restaurant mainly because it was close to an engagement we had later in the evening. When we walked in at 5:30, we knew that we were dining very early, but we worried a bit about our being the only ones there. The atmosphere was unusual with metal tables, but there was a fresh flower on each one. Our waiter was outstanding - not pushy but very friendly. We were not disappointed in the food. They had some unusual Italian dishes, and everything we ordered was outstanding, fresh, hot foods were hot, and the portions are large. The salads were a definite treat. At the end of dinner, we were stuffed and had to get carry-out containers. Then, the waiter comped us with the best tiramisu we have ever eaten! We never felt rushed, yet we were able to make it to our engagement without rushing. By the way, other diners did arrive later and seemed to enjoy what they ordered.
