Pros
Nice environment with pleasant music at an appropriate volume.
Friendly and efficient staff.
Good Italian fare.
Cons
Didn't experience one but would not have been as happy if we had been seated in the dining room
next to the kitchen. If you are able, sit in the room next door.

This is a popular local and we went with friends who have been before. The food is excellent ( and always is) but the tables are too close together, the service hurried and there is no follow up once your meal has been served. This is such a pity as with a bit more care, this would be a truly great place. Go to eat good food but be prepared to be hurried or forgotten! Good value.

Big TripAdvisor fans. Can't believe that this hasn't been brought up before.

Our review doesn't apply to any parties over two people. The restaurants staff and food prep were up to par. would go back again if in a party of four. Cute but very busy place. Our problem was that we were just a party of two. They have one couples table set up that ruined our dining experience. Could be your potential problem if you are just two people and you get this table.

The restaurant is a two room affair. One room (the entrance) has dining set up along with the open kitchen and the other room is basically just dining. The first room (entrance to the restaurant) is set up with the open kitchen running length way against one wall, tables set up next to the four foot privacy wall hiding a bit of the kitchen activity, an aisle thru the center of the room then another set of tables running along the other wall. Most of those tables are set for four people. In the back of this room they have set up a small table just for two people. It sets next to the back wall under the menu board. (DO NOT SIT HERE). Unfortunately it is a very tiny area to start with and is further defined by the access route (maybe three feet wide) from the kitchen for all wait staff and all the bussers and all the people going to and from the bathrooms. Everyone doing anything passes within six-eight inches of the outside of this table. The other equally annoying situation (remember the four foot wall) is that the dishwasher stations are immediately thru that wait staff opening and right behind your head. The noise level from that is crazy. I know that space is at a premium in every restaurant particularly in this city but gimme a break. Oh I almost forgot, the much used linen closet sits over the outside shoulder of the diner who isn't dealing with the dishwashers.. If turnover is what they want, they got it with us. Didn't complain to staff. They know how bad this table is. Spent our $100 and left. But felt an obligation to write this for future diners. Good luck with seating.

recommended by a local at our hotel. very crowded on friday night but offered to serve us some wine outside while we waited and it was great being so warm that evening. waited about 40 minutes for a table, had a great waiter i just wished i had remember to ask his name:-(

starters were a butternut soup and a roasted eggplant, feta salad, both very good. mains were pasta, one tortellini with a spicy tomato sauce and the other penne in same sauce. they were both good, i wouldn't say spectacular, but very good. it was a basic pasta so kind of hard to be outstanding. that is not to say we didn't love the restaurant, we did and i would go back in a second. had a very enjoyable evening, highly recommend.

We picked this from Frommer's San Francisco Day by Day and were not disappointed. Our visit was lunchtime and it was comfortably busy. The staff made a very good first impression. Menu selections are traditional Italian fare, well presented and tasty. Pizza bases are a bit on the thick side vs the real deal in Italy, but maybe cater more for local tastes. Highly recommended for a quiet lunch or dinner in this largely residential neighbourhood.
