Service is outstanding. Food is excellent with a vey good variety of sushi and hot dishes. Everything is really fresh. Wine pours are extremely generous by the glass and not any more expensive that any other restaurant. We were celebrating our anniversary and the brought a complimentary dessert. I highly recommend.

This was our third visit to ANZU, and we have enjoyed each.
It is in a lovely room in the Hotel Nikko, and features excellent Sushi & Tempura.
The service, as always, was great, and the servers very helpful at navigating the menu, especially regarding portion sizes of each item.
Good wine list, with offerings that mostly pair with the food.
Highly recommended.

I came here while in San Fran on business purely because I had a Restaurant.com certificate for $25 discount. The restaurant is located inside the Nikko hotel and my initial impressions were favorable. Once seated I decided on a glass of white wine and a sushi roll. I chose the Anzu roll which was actually really delicious. Shrimp tempura (how can you fail?) and just general deliciousness. While eating the roll, a waiter came by with some bread that had been offered. Just a tad out of sequence!!! It would have been better if the bread had arrived first, obviously.

I then chose the Wagyu beef appetizer - not being totally sure what to expect if I'm honest. The waiter arrived with a white dish with coarse salt layering the bottom and, in the middle, a smooth black stone. He cautioned me not to touch it!!

The other component was a dish that housed 3 condiment pots and some incredibly thinly sliced beef. He explained the procedure and I dug in. Not only was it fun to "cook" my own beef, but it was extremely tasty. This would be such a fun experience with kids or others but unfortunately I was solo on this occasion.

Good food, reasonable service (it could have been a bit more attentive) and a very nice ambience.... All adds up to a solid 4 star review. Next time if they get the bread out on time, I'll up it to 5 stars!

Dear Caroline W.,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review us. I'm happy to hear your experience in ANZU was a positive one and that you enjoyed your meal! Isn't The Rock fun? It's one of our favorite items on the menu as when else do you get the chance to cook your own beef? :)

I appreciate your comments on the less than attentive service and I have relayed this to my staff - guest comments are essential in us constantly improving.

I hope we are able to welcome you back very soon!

Sincerely,
Danielle Ortega

Very pleasant reception and excellent service from our waiter Tommy! This was our first visit to ANZU and to San Francisco. Nice atmosphere. I had the baby beet salad and Mary's Chicken - both were awesomely delicious! My wife had the French Onion soup and the Loch Duart Salmon which was as good or better than she had in Scotland. All said, nice night dining out at ANZU! Oh, and one more thing, they accepted our Restaurant.com gift certificate without question. I say this because we've had several restaurants balk when we presented the gift certificate in the past. Thank you ANZU!
We'll be back!

We stopped in for the buffet before heading out for the day. The fare was Asian/American fusion and they make pancakes upon request.
