North Beach, good coffee, great atmosphere, sit where the beat poets and writers sat and enjoy a visit to the past and maybe better times. Not too many authentic places still around.

Best time to visit - early morning on Sunday when habitues start to gather in cafe for drinking coffe with morning newspaper and listening any old melody f.e."California dreaming" from juke-box standing in the corner. And of course it needs to say about barman; his speed of preparing expresso is maximum which I have ever met - big contrast with idyllic atmosphere.

Ok, so if anybody goes to this place it cannot just be for the sake of a latte.

This corner coffee shop has history, and a ton of it. Allegedly Francis Ford Coppola wrote part of The Godfather script here and it is supposed to be one of the gathering places for the "Beat Poets".

To that you need to add an environment filled with colorful characters, such as a policeman in uniform debating about poetry with patrons.

Coffee was good, cake was decent and cookies were superb. However, what makes this place unique is it rich history and more than interesting patrons. Give it a try, it wont disappoint you.

At last, better than most, great Coffee in San Francisco.
Arty, eclectic, a bit of history associated with this place and lots of past celeb patrons photos on the walls.

Every trip to San Francisco has a daily visit at Caffe Trieste. On a weekend, Sunday mornings are spent here. The coffee is great. The food is the right size and taste. The music on music box with operatic voices signing along is free. Why spend your time anywhere else?
