Love Boulevard. Great menu - solid in every category (appetizer, entree, desert). Wonderfully casual atmosphere that still seems serious. Service excellent.

If you are on your own in the city, for me nothing better than sitting at the bar in front of the grill. Nothing better than watching the chefs crank out perfect meal after perfect meal. Watching will first make you hungry, then help you choose what to eat - all the time appreciating the art that goes into perfect food preparation.

Read the reviews and decided to go for a Saturday Evening meal. We could only get a late sitting and when we arrived the place was buzzing. We had a drink at the bar and sampled a few rosés before choosing a light classic French number. You know the service is good when they don't even ask your name when you arrive, just the time of your reservation and then address you as Mr xxxxx when they collect you for your table.

Then menu is extensive with a French influence and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed with quirky French bistro style decor.

You can tell we enjoyed and would recommend Le Boulevard to anyone visiting San Fran. Bon soirée.

We sat in the bar area because they were packed on a Sunday night. They quickly made accommodations and were very helpful. I had the pork chop and it was slightly overcooked and dry. The accompanying sides were a strange mix that didn't seem to work together. I shared a beet salad dish that was very good. Service was above average but I found the food to be somewhat average, based on previous reviews and price. Still, a beautiful restaurant. I feel like I would go back and try it again...perhaps my choice of dishes was poor. The portions are quite small so you'll need to add sides if you are hungry.

Something about Boulevard really resonated with me. The interior is Art Noveau French, and it has an old Parisian comfort to it. It is not a party place, and is not loud, so you can hear people talk. It is perfect for a romantic dinner, family dinner with children over 9, as well as a business dinner. The food is very well prepared with mostly local organic and free range ingredients, and is therefore full of flavor. The last time I ate here I had their diver scallops, which were huge, perfectly cooked and so amazing in taste I find myself craving them on occasion!

Getting a reservation at Boulevard is not easy - make sure to book as far in advance as you can to ensure you get the date and time you want. Once you're in you won't be disappointed.

The restaurant space is spectacular. It has a modern version of a vaulted ceiling - gently sloping inlaid brick sections that create a warm and inviting space. At night the lighting is subdued creating a more intimate space without making it impossible to read the menu. If you can snag a table at the west end of the restaurant you will also be rewarded with a great view of the Bay Bridge (with its night time light show).

But Boulevard is all about the food. We were not disappointed with any of the items we ordered - for appetizers the seafood chowder was delightfully light and the scallops fresh and perfectly cooked (with figs and chorizo). Our entrees included the beef filet (a nice size served with pearl onions, peppers) and wild salmon (cooked to order with fresh vegetables). We all shared one dessert - a toasted pecan cake with chocolate and ice cream - very good!

Boulevard isn't cheap but it's definitely worth the splurge. They also have a great wine list (you can find selections for less than $50) and the service just right.
