We come here for a breakfast, but finally take it for lunch after 90 minutes waiting to be seated under the sun, be sure to have a hat or sunblock at hand.

The food is good, especially their raspberry sauce is probably their best asset... omelletes are good but a bit flavorless, nothing special I have eaten better omelletes, roasted potatoes are really good and whole wheat toast were very good.
What can I say…personally I think after waiting so much time to come inside people are really hungry, thirsty and tired, and then; they set up you in front of fresh breads, juices, great food smell and nice looking fully fruited pancakes and toasts with sugar, in a really good ambience and historic place; all this situation makes it feel that this breakfast is awesome and better than it really is, the truth is: this is not awesome. This is good, but not awesome.
You can eat similar quality food in Ihop or Dennys, not worth the long wait.

The service is really good and professional, prices are affordable.
PD they have only one nasty restroom for both male and females and you have to wait in a line to use it, so, wait outside to be seated and wait inside to use the restroom which sucks.

There are plenty of breakfast places in The City. But 2 stands out for me. Dotties and this one Mama's on Washington Square.

It's smack in between Chinese and the Italian districts and it sits in the corner.

Decor is cozy. Once you survived the long line , you step inside and is greeted by the cacophony of scents, eggs on the grill, fresh baked breads on the table, and plenty of pastries to assault your hungry eyes and nose.

I must say, service is fast, and the tables turnover are just as fast. And perhaps it is also the fact that it is a neighborhood breakfast place, and not many tourists patronise this place.

The regulars who eat here, are always aware and sensitive to the folks waiting outside to get in. So a big difference from Dotties (see my other review).

Freshly squeezed orange juice is a must, as you feel the sap when you throttled down the cold juice beforre you set yourself to the eggs benedict.

Another nice place to eat breakfast.. parking is curbside, and so have plenty of coins because its a 2hr time limit on the meter and the meter man is very very diligent .... so there.

We arrived before opening on a weekday and were seated at the communal table in the entry way. We ended up sitting there the whole time without much company. But towards the end, a large party of 7 arrived and wanted our table. Made it hard to enjoy a leisurely breakfast while the hungry family hovered over us, eying our coffee refills with chagrin. Nonetheless, the food was fantastic and portion sizes were large. The wait staff was friendly and efficient and we were well attended.

The neighborhood isn't the best and it wasn't the most comfortable place to wait outside with a young child. It would be very welcome to be able to wait inside.

We went on a weekday at 11:30am and waited for over an hour to be seated.

First, you wait outside, then when you are in, you wait in line to order. Then You wait again for your Food to be prepared and then for a Table to open.

French Toast was good, as were the Hash Browns. The Fruit Plate and Whole Wheat Toast were excellent.

Cakes were too sweet and heavy. Glass of Lemonade for $3.25 was an overcharge and not worth this price.

Service is Friendly and Efficient.

This tiny restaurant puts out the best breakfast you will have in San Francisco. The wait time is very lone up to two hours on the weekend . Either get there at 8 when it opens or go for a brunch later. But go and enjoy !
