Follow the instructions from previous posts on getting here at the right time. We ended up here around 9AM and waited for about 45 minutes. The food was amazing.

My husband and i waited about two hours to get in there, but it was totally worth it. We both had blackstone benedict and then we shared bluebarry pancakes. While my husband loved the pancakes, i must admit i've had better - still, they were pretty good. What truly impressed me was the egg benedict. The ensemble of eggs, muffin, bacon and tomato was simply perfect, and i will remember it for a very long time! Sadly the place is quite small, but everyone is really nice!

I read all about this place prior to our trip and was really excited to visit. What a massive disapointment! I can understand why the Americans love it...it's just sugar and a pile it high attitude. My breakfast of pancakes with sausage and scambled eggs was dire, my pancakes heavy, the eggs horrid and it was just a real disappointment.
You will like it if you want a huge sugar rush but if you want a lovely relaxed breakfast forget it. Our table was stuck next to order bar and people just stood over us all the time. The coffee is terrible and the toilets a shock. You have to go via the kitchen ( which is a real eye opener on how your food is prepared). The toilet is the outside and not very nice. In Britain it would not survive. I can't understand what the allure is...i think so many people have raved about it that when you get there you also feel you need to...believe me you don't.
Want a great breakfast? Then avoid....

Breakfast at Mama's is something special. The wait in line adds to the experience. We were there at 7.30 on a sunny Sunday morning, early March. We were not the first; two couples arrived before we did. At 8 there was a long line, and the hospitable staff let us in by small groups to maintain the cozy feeling. The restaurant itself is nice and inviting. The food is just out of this world - the Pan Dore, is French Toast, with slices of sourdough baguette with sauteed apples in lemon butter sauce is definitely worth a try.
Although we came by taxi, we decided to walk the 25 minutes back...

Mama's most always has a wait, but it is worth it. Try to arrive around opening time to avoid the line. Fantastic french toast, pancakes, Italian sausage and eggs. Lunch is less crowded and very good, but breakfast at Moma's is a must do while in SF.
