It doesn't matter what you get. It's all good. You will wait in line. We waited for about an hour. Yes, it was worth it.. You really should make the time to come here at least once. You won't regret it.

“You have to do it!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2012

Staying with my friend in San Francisco, he told me you had to try and get into Mama's for breakfast. Well, we lined up and lined up - and then we got in. And it was delicious. Absolutely delicious. Such a gorgeous little place too. Well worth the experience.

“Go Here!”

So glad we found this place. The food is wonderful and you won't leave deprived! Believe me! The coffee cakes are great and the breakfast selections are wonderful. If you plan on going, make sure you plan well for it. There is always a line. If going on the weekend--get there early. We were part of the 1st seating on a Sunday and the line was down the block when we left. It's worth it though!

“Disappointed, don't understand the hype!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

We had the opportunity to eat at Mama's a few weeks ago on a Sunday. I wouldn't go back as the food was very average that can be found at any local restaurant offering breakfast/brunch menu.

As the reviews suggested we arrived before they opened at 7:20 and were seated as soon as they opened the doors. At that time there were only a few couples waiting.

FOOD:

Dungeness Crab Omelette - The ingredients did taste fresh; however, it tasted so bland. Not seasoning your food properly makes a world of difference.

French Toast Sampler - Mama's may know presentation but they don't know french toast! They use 3 different baked breads and top them off with fresh fruit. It was too heavy and tasted like bread not french toast normally crispy on the outside and light on the inside. As others suggested the cranberry option is the better of the three.

Pancakes - Very average, nothing special. They were definitely not melt-in-your mouth as others have suggested.

Chicken Turkey Sausage - Not sure what this was...I was expecting a fresh sausage patty made in house but I was very wrong. It looked and tasted processed.

Mimosas - Small, but you can taste the alcohol.

Orange Juice - Did taste fresh squeezed and was good.

Coffee - My husband did love and asked for the brand name.

On a high note the staff especially one particular gentleman was very nice, funny and outgoing. Our bill I believe totaled around $75. I never mind spending money on a good meal but not liking the food and spending this kind of money was very disappointing. One thing that I found different was ordering your food as soon as you come into the restaurant. You order at the counter and have a seat with your group.

Bottom line, I would pass and go with more of a local option than a tourist trap.

“Breakfast was fantastic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

but the wait to get in was horrible.

We had heard the food was wonderful and truthfully they probably served me the best omelette I've ever tasted. But we stood in line outside the restaurant for almost an hour waiting to get in. If the wait was more reasonable this restaurant would definitely get 5 stars.
