We dined here with about 40 friends. They had no problem with the group size and the service was great

Good wine selection, varied seafood selections. We tried two fish entree's. The halibut was a bit undercooked and the sea bass was a bit overcooked. Otherwise it seemed fresh. I thought the 'salad greens' dish could have been a tad more imaginative, but the dressing was good, and the baby romaine was clean, fresh and tasty.

I was pretty relaxed here. Looks like locals hang here, and you can dress up or down.

We went here to the Hayes Street Grill for a pre-San Francisco Symphony Concert dinner. We ordered cocktails and wine before ordering our dinner. My companion had their beef dish and I had the fried oysters. Dessert consisted of cheesecake and a raspberry trifle. The food was very good albeit a bit on the pricey side. Service was good but a bit on the snobby side, but hey, we're in San Francisco going to a concert. Very tight seating bordering on uncomfortable but the place is still packed. We'll probably come again prior to various concerts at Davies Symphony Hall.

Time and again we keep returning to this excellent restaurant. Fish is lovingly prepared, service is excellent, ambience pleasant, and the patrons feel very satisfied from the experience. It has been a favorite of ours when in the Bay Area. Highly recommend this high standard restaurant.

The fish is fresh, the portions are small and the prices are high, very high in fact. They serve the fish with French fries, which is unusual. The wine prices are a bit high too. The place is casual and full of locals but they all seem quite well to do. I would say that it is a good choice if you want to get away from the tourist traps in the Wharf or Union Square, but be prepared to pay for the "sustainable" fish they serve, and you may leave a bit hungry too.
