This is just a nice restaurant, but not as special as it used to be. We had sufficiently attentive service, but had to ask for bread, and then again for refills; bread for 4 people was 4 slices each time. The waitress promised to substitute mashed potaoes for french fries, but that did not happen.

The sea bass did not appear to be sea bass that i was familiar with; it came as a softer and flakier fish like halibut. It came simply grilled which was fine except in plating, the top and edges were torn apart. Similarly, plating the petrale sole needed some revision; it was smothered in chantrelles and half slices of fingerling potatoes. Delicious, but you had to dig thru to get to the fish. It had been beautifully fried, and should have been showed off as the star of the plate. Nothing that a little detailing couldnt correct, but the overall experience was just ordinary.

They are well versed at getting the customer served and out to the performances, so that was a plus for those going to any performance close by. Fior those wanting a fine dining experience, try somewhere else.

We had a lovely dinner and the service was good. We were served interesting and tasty dishes, nicely arranged. I'm not sure I would take very young children there for dinner, but for older ones and adults it was definitely a very pleasant experience

Hayes Street Grill sets up a food booth at the Ferry Plaza Farmers' Market every Saturday from 8 a.m. to around 1:30 p.m. What a wonderful setting! Bayside at the Ferry Building & only a short walk from the MUNI. It was difficult to choose between the crabcakes on a Acme baguettes, $11 or a oyster po'boy $8.50. The pan-fried cornmeal crusted Hama Hama oyster po'boy served on a baguette with baby lettuce & coleslaw won the round. Yummy!!! Next time, I will have to try the crabcakes!
