“Great stop for drink”
Reviewed July 19, 2014 via mobile

Hayes is a nice neighborhood and Absinthe is a nice place to stop. Good selection of drinks, cosy seating outside. Nice to have a break here while strolling in the area).

“Great for food, booze, and wonderful wine.”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

The up town Manhattan was the best! The french fries with aioli were the best! Then perfect pork steak and lamb with macaroni and cheese and terrific asparagus along with oysters and wonderful French onion soup made for a very great meal. The service was spectacular and I want to thank Katie for giving us great food suggestions and for sending over Gretchen the talented and joyous Head Sommelier whose advice on a CA pinot noir and French Burgundy was perfect and then sharing with us her latest discovery - a totally delicious dry German Riesling.
If you love grand food, great wine (this is ONE of the greatest wine lists!) and excellent and warm service, journey to Absinthe!

“Good food and drink”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

This is a quaint and apparently popular place in the Civic district of SF. It seemed a little pricey but the food was excellent and the choice of drinks respectable.

“Ask for the back room!”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

Always in search of dining within walking distance to SF Opera House & Davies Hall, we always try new ones...can't go wrong with Absinthe, good food, prompt service, and by requesting a quiet table we were seated in the PDR...very nice...good clams/mussels & traditional French Onion Soup, the salmon with the thin crisp layer of thinly sliced potatoes was delicious...we shall return.

“Amazing food! Great service!”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

My wife and I were in San Francisco for the first time and we are total foodies. We were looking for a good french restaurant and were able to get a reservation without any problems. One we arrived we first noticed the neighborhood. It was so nice, beautiful tree lined street full of boutique shops and restaurants!! When we got to the restaurant we sat down a nice booth and ordered a great bottle of wine and a cheese plate that was unbelievable!! Their onion soup is to die for!!! I also ordered the coq au vin and was one of the best I've ever had!!!
