Really enjoyed this place. Wandering around the street (which is a cute area to wander) the hostess encouraged us to come in by turning on the outside heater while we lingered at the menu. Everyone was so friendly and enthusiastic inside. The wine recommendation was spot on. The atmosphere was romantic and bold. The food, which should always be the star, was fulfilling and enjoyable. Great taste profiles. A little on the pricier side compared to the more casual bars along the street.

Try the cuatro sampler and you will not be disappointed! Followed up with Lomo Saltado and a wonderful special fish of the day. Perfect dinner after catching a film down the street on a Friday night. Should say it is a bit loud inside however.

The only downside of this buzzing, contemporary and fabulous food joint was that disappointingly this branch of Fresca (there are 2 others in San Fran) don't serve pisco!! This was a let down for a peruvian restaurant, however with delicious ceviche and a range of fabulous mains we tried, it was soon forgiven.

This restaurant is highly recommended.

I love their multi-choice ceviches. I had Paella and my wife had half-chicken. Abundant portions, and they all seem to have some GIANT sized corn kernels. Fresca on West Portal is small and quiet. Fresca on Fillmore is more hip, but very noisy.

Decided on Fresca on a Tuesday evening after walking up fillmore. It was around 7pm and I was with a couple of friends who also enjoy good food. Fresca was inviting and it was crowded when we got there. Reservation is definitely recommended but the waiter managed to get us a table when I said I was from out of town and wanted to try their place. Very accommodating.

I had their ceviche mixto was very good. Lots of lime juice if you like tht as well. another guest had an avocado salad with shrimp in it. It was served with fish slices of red chilli and that can be very spicy for some. Watch out. For main dishes we had atun and sea bass. Both dishes were very nicely decorated and tasy. The atun also has the red chilli on top. Portions were decent, quite filling actually. Sangria and rose accompanied the dishes and was good.

You can also opt to sit in front of the kitchen. We saw flames going up over the grill so it must be cool sitting there and watching them cook. Can be noisy as the tables are closer together so if you want to have a quiet dinner this may not be suitable.Fresca also has a sister restaurant on Irving street called Pasion. Will try that next time.
