We enjoyed turkey, pastrami and brisket washed down with some good beers and wine. You don't come here for fine dining but the meats were excellent and the price hard to believe.

Suggest you try it for yourself.

My sister heard about this place on Diners Drive-in and Dives and well we had to try it (http://www.foodnetwork.com/local/ca-san-francisco/tommys-joynt-restaurant2/index.html#/38.736171/-97.222306/4/). We picked up sandwiches for dinner. Take-out was a breeze given their walk-up to the counter and order, watch while they make it in front of you style. They have daily sandwich specials that are only offered that day - menu is available online. We had Roast Beef (excellent!), Pulled Pork and Meatball sandwiches. Loved the Roast Beef! Pulled Pork was excellent. Meatball was by far our least favorite. Casual dine in option with a fun rustic atmosphere. If you can luck out with great street parking, take-out is quick and simple.

If you like a rough and ready atmosphere and you're hungry - this was a good place to go. Had the BBQ Brisket w/ green beans and cucumber salad. YUM.

I had one meal here when I was visiting San Francisco last month. They have an extensive menu, all American type food, and what I had was good, and the price was very reasonable.

We eat our main meals here when in San Fransisco. We ate dinner twice here in March. They rotate the specials so you can't get bored. The only dish that didn't look great was the lasagne, in some kind of cream sauce. The dinners that we like are spaghetti, meat loaf and beef stew. They also have pork dishes, turkey legs and many hot vegs and green salads. This is a cafeteria style restaurant, first come first served, where you pick what you want a la carte, put it on your tray and find your own seat. Also, you have to wait for a server in order to get a beverage. People love it here. The napkins are tiny and flimsy and the cutlery is really cheap, otherwise it is a great place.
