We stumbled across Bask while wandering around the area looking for dinner inspiration by our hotel - and what a find it turned out to be. We walked up on a Friday night and although they were busy the hostess worked wonders and politely re-organized patrons at the bar to squeeze us in after a few minutes. Some restaurant hosts seem to discard you when you try and get in to a full restaurant - here she kept checking on us in a super friendly and helpful manner. We ordered a selection of tapas including the Euskal Salad (very flavorful), the Sautee Salmon Skewers, the Spanish Tortilla Omelette with Chorizo, and the Lamb Meatballs along with some Spanish beer along with some nice wine from a very interesting by the glass selection. To cap things we ended with a very nice Manchego Cheese Plate. My daughter was very taken with the chipotle based sauce that came with the Tortilla plate and one of the principals even gave her a small to go serving to take home with us - that as a super nice touch. The owner, I believe, from Toulouse, was working the bar - as well as the restaurant and was always engaging and smiling. There was also some excellent live music with some eclectic modern jazz with a chanteuse singer. All added to a simply great evening to cap a wonderful vacation. We can't wait to get back to SanFran to visit our new favorite!!
