I came to visit SF for about 2 weeks. This place has very friendly staff who were very patient with any of my requests or concerns. The place is very clean and well maintained every day. The location is great, right next to the 38 Geary bus which can take you to downtown or to the beach without changing buses. The location is fantastic because you can literaly get anywhere you want with help of any bus. There are plenty of food restaurants near by or even grocery stores so you don't have to spend a lot of money dining out every day. It is a great motel to stay over.

Geary Parkway Motel may be the best place I have ever stayed at. I stay at the motel every other weekend while I attend USF. Henry (the manager) is always working hard to make sure you are happy with your stay. In addition, the beds are so comfortable that I found out what type of bed it was and purchased one for myself. I was getting a better nights sleep at the motel than in my own home. The place is super quiet, super clean, and super friendly. They have also recently remodeled the rooms and you are spoiled with granite tiled showers, flat screen TVs, good coffee, and extra clean rooms. With free parking and internet, you can't beat the price. It's in a great location, too. I highly recommend GPM.

I like this property because the manager is friendly and involved and the place is clean and well maintained. It is within walking distance of Golden Gate Park -the DeYoung and the California Academy of Science. Also the Geary Bus #38 goes stops in front going West and across the street going East so easy to get down town or to the beach. Parking is free although the spaces are narrow. I park the car and walk and use public transportation. This last week I attended the American Conservatory Theater - I took the bus both directions as both are on Geary but about 4 miles distance - Also attended the Opera on Van Ness and used the bus to go but took a taxi back. On a earlier trip, manager made a big effort to get frien a room on ground floor as she could not navigate the stairs to second floor - they are steep.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor if you have trouble with stairs.

The Geary Parkway motel is very easy to find, is relatively inexpensive, is clean and is very convenient to restaurants in the Richmond District. The bed was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the towels were changed daily, the tv worked and although my room faced Geary Blvd., it was tolerably quiet since the traffic dies down late at night.

The people in the office were very responsive and helpful.

The best part of the stay for me is the motel's location. It's right on the 38 Geary busline, which goes west almost all the way to the Ocean, near the Cliff House, or the other direction it goes clear downtown. We met friends at Fisherman's Wharf (only go there if you are a first-time tourist or if you're meeting someone as we were) and it was an easy trip-- we took the 38 to Van Ness and then transferred to a bus that took us to Bay Street, where we walked out on the jetty at Aquatic Park, then strolled through the Cannery and Ghirardelli Square before we went to the wharf.

(Our friends have a tradition of drinking an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista on the corner of Hyde, but I say avoid this tourist trap with its expensive and weak drinks and spend your money in one of the neighborhoods. But we joined them and kept our opinions to ourselves...)

The motel is right on the corner of Geary and 12th Avenue, and one block north on 12th is Clement Street, which is lined with restaurants and bars for the 12 blocks to the east to Arguello (which would be 1st Avenue if there were one). Lots of bookstores and coffee shops and many ethnic restaurants, particularly Vietnamese and Chinese. One door east of 12th on Clement is "Cafe la Flore," which had great coffee and croissants and became an every-morning haunt.

On the corner of 11th and Clement, on the south side, is a Thai bistro, "Be My Guest." Service was fast and excellent and the food was very good and not too expensive.

A walk the other direction on 11th, south across Geary, leads to Golden Gate Park in a few blocks (the east-west streets going in this direction are alphabetical, in that the first street after Geary is Anza, then Balboa, then Cabrillo-- then the system changes for a few blocks as the next street is Fulton, and the other side of Fulton is the park). It takes about 10 minutes at a comfortable stroll to walk to the park. Turn left on Fulton and walk one block to 10th to enter the park. Inside you will find the DeYoung Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Japanese Tea Garden, and within short walks you can find small lakes, tennis courts, the arboretum, the Conservatory, and many other beautiful attractions.

If you continue walking south you will cross the park (it's only about two blocks wide at this point) and you will come out on Lincoln, which is a major artery. If you cross that street you will be in the Sunset District. (You just left the Richmond District behind) One block farther and you'll come to Irving Street, where the alphabetical theme is continued. Irving has many cool shops and coffee houses and restaurants. It's a true neighborhood, in which you can find pretty much anything you need, from barbers to hardware stores, from car mechanics to banks. One more block will take you to Judah Street, and there is streetcar line there, the N Judah, which will take you right downtown, or farther west where you can make connections with other lines.

This motel has free parking, which is a HUGE bonus in SF, as parking is a nightmare on the streets, and lots are expensive. But be warned: there are a limited number of spaces, and they are quite small, so if you're driving a huge Suburban you might not fit, and if you arrive late in the afternoon there might not be any space for you anyway.

Room Tip: Opt for an upstairs room, and I'd suggest a room NOT on Geary Blvd-- although the room I had was...

I wanted to stay in the closest motel to my son's appt in San Francisco. Reception were nice, rooms updated, clean and comfy bed. I had only a 15 min walk to my sons appt and we walked to a pizza restaurant and then a nice bar. Parking off the street was a plus. Only one problem, I had the front room looking out on Geary and it was very busy noise wise, but I liked everything else and I will go back.

Room Tip: If you don't want street noise, ask for any room, except facing the street.

Expected a lot more looking at previous reviews. Compared to other places in the states we thought it was very overpriced (this is probably every where in San Fran). Room was ok but a lot of noise from Geary Blvd which is a very busy Rd. Public transport is easy to access but you are looking at a 30 to 40 min trip into downtown. The neighborhood is good, plenty of places to eat and drink. Breakfast is a joke ,why bother? Would look at staying closer to down town If I visited again. Overall very average.

This is an older motel which has been extensively renovated with up to date furnishings. We stayed in a king bed room. The room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. This is a great location on Geary, a block away from Clement, within walking distance of Golden Gate Park, near lots of restaurants and shops of New Chinatown (check out the Dragon River a couple of blocks away on Geary). There is some traffic noise from Geary, but we found it was not overwhelming.

Housekeeping does a great job. The onsite manager was always helpful and responsive. Parking is limited -- but it is free. Breakfast is sparse (coffee, tea, prepackaged muffins, juice machine -- but the coffee is excellent).

We definitely look forward to staying at the Geary parkway Motel on our next visit to SF.
