Located a little far out from the main touristy stuff, but what makes this hotel worth a stay (apart from the great price) is the neighbourhood feel you accquire from staying here. The staff were very helpful, room clean and there was a nice shared and welcoming feel to the whole place.

Buses right outside will take you where you need to go to explore San Fran.

Perfect for those on a budget and looking to feel the real San Francisco.

This hotel was in a good haight-ashbury location. It was clean and the bed was really comfy and soft. We had to swap rooms due to a flight change meaning we had to book and additional night and the staff were more than happy to move our cases to the new room while we were out for the day so it
Was all ready for us. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. X

The Metro Hotel has been the backbone of our trip to SF, the froth on our coffee, the maple syrup on our pancakes! The staff are like friends and take such an interest in your trip and your requirements. Shana, Gi Gi and Matt looked after us perfectly and were great fun to chat to. Shana was brilliant and we want to pop her in our suitcase to enjoy her company on the rest of our road trip around California! Matt's a fab artist, Shana has the inside track and Gi Gi is the smiling princess of the lobby - what a team!!! Thank you so much for a brilliant stay, you have started our two week Californian road trip with a San Fran smile and we are ready for the adventure ahead. The Emperor Norton salutes you all..,

I stayed at the Metro and enjoyed many happy conversations with the people behind the desk.
The rear or front rooms are the best. At the rear I could sit outside on the balcony often and enjoy a beer. There can be noise from traffic and a downstairs restaurant so take ear plugs and don't worry about it.
Lots of walking to Haight-Ashbury and other areas was enjoyable to look at more local neighbourhoods and cool Victorian archtitecture. Ameoba Records at the end of Haight St has a huge range of everthing. The public transport ($2 for 4 hours, jump-on-jump-off) was terrific. There was a great bar one block up on the corner. Not too far by bus or walk was Japan Town where there are a lot of Japanese shops especially food.

Loved this hotel. Really friendly staff and though the rooms aren't huge, they are clean and the beds are comfy. And for that price, it's amazing value! Do note that of you've never been to SF, it's not in the downtown area, but on a great neighborhood. Close to haight-Ashburry, Hayes valley, Alamo square, and with plenty of public transport. I will definitely return!

The guys and gals at The Metro do everything they can to ensure my booking and my stay works out well. The rooms I have stayed in have been immaculately clean. They are large and uncluttered with modern sheeting and decor. The ensuite is simple, clean and adequate. I give the hotel a 5 for the excellent standard you can expect at such a budget price. The location is absolutely brilliant also. I don't see the point of staying elsewhere unless I want to pay $400 a night and that's not going to happen right now. I also want to mention the staff who are lovely; I was remembered from last year. That's nice.

My husband and I really enjoyed the Metro Hotel because of the location. The room was small but super clean and that is more important. You will spend most of the day visiting the city than staying in your room. There is no shampoo and soap, so make sure you bring your own. The hotel is in the Haight Ashbury neighbourhood, there are a lot of restaurants and breakfast places. The hotel does not have parking but there are a lot of space in the streets. Make sure to bring jeans and a coat. San Francisco is very cold and windy. I will for sure book at Metro Hotel if I come back to San Francisco.
